With his shaggy beard and rumpled, olive-drab fatigues, Fidel Castro presented himself to the world as a modest man of the people.
At times, he claimed he made just 900 pesos ($43) a month and lived in a fishermans hut somewhere on the beach.
But Castros public image was a carefully crafted myth, more fiction than fact.
While his people suffered, Fidel Castro lived in comfort keeping everything, including his eight children, his many mistresses, even his wife, a secret, wrote Juan Reinaldo Sanchez, Castros longtime bodyguard.

Call then what they really are: MENTAL DEFECTIVES.
Castro = Negan
I can believe the story about Raul.
You don’t cremate your own brother if he was good to you.
He always had to live in the shadow of Fidel. Imagine you’re not good to be family even in the inner circle.
Fidel inspired loyalty and devotion but never returned it to his subordinates.
It was never a collective leadership in Cuba.
And when I say "owning," I don't mean just the land, water, airspace, mineral rights, import/export flows, manufacturing and service sectors, armed forces, utilities infrastructure, real estate portfolio, transportation system, communications system, and intelligence-gathering system.
I mean he also ends up owning the people. Every man, woman and child becomes his personal property. They are literally slaves. He can pay them as much or as little as he wants, he can have them imprisoned or killed, he can export them for cash, he can rent them out for cash, he can use them for his own amusement in any way he chooses.
He is identical in power to the most brutal despot-king of pre-Magna Carta England.
At this point there's only one of this type left, and that's Kim Jong Un of North Korea, unless I'm mistaken. Perhaps the Sultan of Brunei is in that category, although he hired Rod Stewart for one of his wives' birthday party, so I guess he's got a heart anyway.
So Pierre, how's your wife and my kid?
Really? You’ve been here two weeks and are bitching about posting etiquette by someone who has been here for 14 years?
Fidel had charisma. Only a few leaders have it - Hitler, DeGaulle, Kennedy.
Its an exceedingly rare type. Few people can really inspire others to follow them.
People cremate family members all the time. Everyone n my family has wanted it for themselves. I think embalming is a horrible thing to do to anyone.

Three weeks
Sign up date snobbery is even less awesome
Easy newbie take a seat at the kids table
He or she is the most awesome one in his or hers mommys basement having a juice box and sliced nanaers
Good point. The person signed this month is criticizing another person who signed up many moons ago. The new person might be a spoiled brat with a public school education who thinks Mexicans should be called Hispanics, Negroes should be called African Americans, and History should be called Herstory. Doh.
You know, I just thought of something- The way for donald to make the left fawn all over him, worship him, and obey him woudl be for donald to act like castro- The left absolutely adored Castro- So perhaps donald should act like castro did towards the left only, and then perhaps they will love him-

Get with the program dude! Hang around and read and then post nice things. When you have been here awhile you might post things that are not nice but be careful.
We are not just a web site, all of the long timers are family. The family does not take pot shots at each other unless they really need it with the exception of humblegunner and laz. They are special and until you have been here years you do not even understand how special they are.
Hey, I’ve taken a shot or two at humblegunner myself. I think I’ve been here a year or two longer. I even donate as a monthly!
Of course, whenever I do take a shot, I duck and cover.
“...I mean he also ends up owning the people...”
Liberals like to say that our generals always want to prepare for the last war and are not forward thinking.
But the Libs are still fighting the old slavery of people owning people and not governments owning people. Of course there is some overlap when one man is the power of the government. The Libs think slavery is okay as long as that government offers a free dental plan on paper. What could be cooler to the trendy set than Castro and Che.
