Cruz, Rubio rip Trudeau for praising Castro

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) slammed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday for his praise of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

Trudeau caught flak on social media after expressing "deep sorrow" for Castro, whom he called a "remarkable leader." Cruz and Rubio, who are of Cuban descent, released their own statements ripping the deceased leader.

“Is this a real statement or a parody? Because if this is a real statement from the PM of Canada it is shameful & embarrassing,” Rubio tweeted, linking to Trudeau's statement on Castro's death.

“Disgraceful," Cruz tweeted of Trudeau's remarks. "Why do young socialists idolize totalitarian tyrants? Castro, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot -- all evil, torturing murderers."

In a separate tweet, Cruz provided a link to the website for a nonprofit organization that focuses on human rights and victims of communist regimes.

Cruz argued in a National Review op-ed that Castro's death would not bring "material change in Cuba."

"That is the true legacy of Fidel Castro — that he was able to institutionalize his dictatorship so it would survive him," Cruz wrote, calling for U.S. officials to not attend Castro's funeral until political prisoners in Cuba are released.

Good grief - you people up in Canada have some explaining to do and some campaign ads to cut for the next election. Trudeau's statement almost makes Obama's look good by comparison.

Yes, exactly, it must really hurt to have a fellow Canadian criticize him like that from so far south.

Cruz is a natural born Canadian, he could run for Prime Minister.

He is not a natural born American and is ineligible to be President of the USA.

I wondered when this Castro death would finally get
around to Rafael or Edward Cruz.

“[Castro] reneged on his promise of free elections, executed thousands imprisoned tens of thousands...and made his isle a pawn in the Cold War.” - Miami Herald

“While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for ‘el Comandante,’” - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (Canada)

When you get something stuck in your head you never let go. I'm guessing your wife is very happy with you

It's true. Cruz's Mother held British citizenship at the time of his birth, and his father, of course, was a Cuban national.

Canada did not allow dual-citizenship back in 1970.

My reaction as a Canadian , previoulsy posted:

“Canada’s Prime Minkster, JustIN Fluedough, Canada’s Commie Village Idiot, is praising the ba$tard.” I doubt he would survive a 5 mile bicycle ride in Alberta.

And I did not vote for the supercilious ba$tard. So many Canadians are so bitter about the a$$hat.

Flue-dough is a short timer now. We Canadians will rid ourselves of him at the earliest opportunity.

Well regardless of that I think we can all agree that the reaction to Trudeau’s outrageous statement is on point.

Your version of Obama...he should be elected because he’s so “young, cool, and hip”. Hope you are right that enough of your fellow citizens will wise up and not let him win a second time when you get the opportunity.

If Cruz is that offended by Trudeau then he can return to his homeland and run against him.

Of course, he is a paid Bush operative so never will do

And you Freepers ask why I left Kanadastan. PM TURDeau is a former drama teacher so he’s a nitwit whose only known accomplishments are attending fag parades and selfies with his shirt off.

Cruz’s Mother held British citizenship at the time of his birth

************

Curious do you have a link to that info. I’ve searched but find nothing that actually validates
her having British citizenship. She lived over there with her first husband, seperated from him
and had a child by another man. The child died before reaching a year old. She came back to
the US and met Rafael and they eventually headed up north to Canada. Ted Cruz was born in
Calgary, Canada on Dec. 22. 1970.

Thanks if you have any info.

I detested his commie father, and I detest the progressive utopian fascist son.

Effing prig. JUST_IN is too stupid to let Canada go to work or to STOP his insane ideological foolishness. Canada will tear him a new ash haole.

We have had enough of the hug and smug of this supercilious utopian fascist a$$hat.

Curious do you have a link to that info.

I deleted all my archives pertaining to the GOP primary race.

She came back to the US

She didn't "come back" to the U.S.

She immediately moved to Canada, which recognized British citizenship at the time (I was mistaken, they recognized dual-citizenship at the time of Cruz's birth but repealed it shortly thereafter). Met Rafael senior in Canada and presto, had a Cuban-Canadian son.

According to her husband, Eleanor Darragh Wilson never sought nor obtained British citizenship.

Truth has no expiration date.
Natural born citizen means today what it meant when they wrote it.
Born here of citizen parents.
Naturally an American because one could be no other.
Cruz is disqualified in two ways.
