President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday greeted the news that Fidel Castro had died by denouncing Cubas longtime leader as a brutal dictator with a legacy of bloodshed. Trump, who vowed to help the island nations people achieve freedom and prosperity, did not explicitly repeat campaign-trail promises to roll back President Obamas historic outreach to the island nation.
The entrepreneurs reaction could scarcely have been more different than the sitting commander in chiefs response. Obama declared that now was the time to extend a hand of friendship to the Cuban people and largely sanitized deep Cold War-era criticisms of Castros record on human rights and economic freedom.
We know that this moment fills Cubans in Cuba and in the United States with powerful emotions, recalling the countless ways in which Fidel Castro altered the course of individual lives, families, and of the Cuban nation, the president said. History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him.
Trump, whose initial reaction to the news was the four-word tweet Fidel Castro is dead! took a far sharper tone in a written statement later issued by his transition team.
Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades, Trump said. Fidel Castros legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights.

Except Obama is not a liberal; he's a socialist thus he views a free people as his enemy to be vanquished. By definition, all Statists require their populace to be enslaved just as the Cubans have been since the beginning of Castro's iron-fisted, deathly reign.

And, Yahoo News still referring to Trump as ‘entrepreneur’, but Zero as “sitting Commander in Chief”.
No double standard there, certainly...

It's not entirely clear that Castro is "recently deceased". The Cuban propaganda machine had a lot of incentive to lie about his death for the longest time, but won't be able to conceal his death any longer now that Trump will stop the Soetoro Adminstration's policy of providing financial aid to a collapsing Communist regime.
Evidence suggests that he died around 2006.

Obama took the “softer” approach? But the media have been telling us that TRUMP “has a soft spot for dictators.”

I hope (and fully expect) Fidel, Che and Ted Kennedy are having a reunion...along with Hitler, Stalin and Mao. Remind Fidel to bring his Ove-Gloves.
It's darn hot down there!

Nor throwing people in prison who disagreed with him. Or lining them up against a wall and shooting them. And their families.
But hey, why should we get in their way of a good story?

Trump, who is called a dictator wannabe, criticizes Castro’s dictatorship. Obama, who is considered a protector of democracy, is ambivalent towards Castro’s abuse of power.

President-elect Trump is old enough to remember what Castro cost
US --American citizens-- and he's quite right to call him in death what he was in life: a cruel dictator.
Not at all surprised that our own dictator-in-chief evinced a softer, almost conciliatory tone. Hope to dance at his funeral, too. Soon.

I have not seen much comment on Obama’s final Thanksgiving Proclamation. This so-called devout Christian never mentions God wants.
