Jeb Bush urges the GOP to restore its brand: There is 'no excuse for failure'

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush urged Republicans to pursue "21st-century solutions" to issues Americans face and govern inclusively if they wish to improve the GOP's brand and build on recent party victories under the next administration.

"Our party must be big-hearted and creative and opportunistic," the ex-White House hopeful, who was President-elect Trump's greatest rival for much of the GOP primary, wrote in a Friday op-ed for the Wall Street Journal.

Bush declined to support Trump in the general election, often criticizing his lack of policy knowledge and foreign policy plans, though he now admits the incoming Republican president "successfully tapped into the anger and deep distrust that voters feel toward Washington" to deliver himself a "hard-fought victory."

But as Trump prepares to take office on Jan. 20 and the newest Republican-controlled Congress descends on Capitol Hill, Bush said GOP leaders must realize they have been tasked with governing a divided nation and can unite the country only if the party delivers on the promises of prosperity and security many of its members made.

I stood up for GWB for 8 years to the point of being ridiculed.
The best thing for the future of the Republican party is for the Bush’s to just go away. Enjoy their wealth, but stay away from microphones and cameras.

Umm 2d - you are only a 2006 sign up but if you want to play “I’m an older freeper” I will repost this since I have been here before you. Cruz needs to crawl back under his rock. When asked why people dislike Cruz so fast the response was “It saves time”

So did Hillary

Why do we care about these losers?

2nd place is just 1st loser

Cruz is done

He can go and switch over to the RAT party where he belongs

Jeb goes to heaven.

Doesn’t make it in. Something about a woman pulled off life support...

He heads down there...

As he checks in, he is offered three choices of hellish possibilities.

He has a short tour where they show him three rooms.

In one room he sees people standing on their heads, in 18 inches of mud.

In room two he sees people standing on their heads, in 45 inches of mud.

In room three, he sees people standing upright, in 60 inches of mud.

It doesn’t take him long to figure that one out. Why of course, he chooses the room with 60 inches of mud, where he’ll be standing upright. It’s deeper, but at least his head is clear.

Just as he has finalized the paperwork and is headed to his room, over the loudspeaker comes this announcement.

“Okay breaks over! Those of you on your head, you can stand upright for five minutes. Those of you on your feet, it’s time for your 55 minutes on your head.”

I got here when I finally got a personal computer. I didn’t feel it was appropriate to post here from a work computer. I’ve been here since the beginning.

Trump should paraphrase his supporter Bob Knight - I’ll handle this the way I want to handle this now that I’m here. Your family effed it up to begin with, now just sit there, or leave.

>>”Our party must be big-hearted and creative and opportunistic,”<<

This sounds a whole lot like “compassionate conservatism” to me. No thanx Jeb, we've had enough milk toast to last a decade.

Cruz has a long career ahead of him. Thank goodness he is our Senator here in Texas....you know, the most conservative state in the union. Now, wanna tawk bout a loser? Chris Christie would be a hell of a start.

What a lil boot licker that boyz turned out to be. Well, Obama loved it, Trump saw right through it. lol

Democrats in Texas are far more conservative than republicans in New Jersey....cept Sheila Jackson Lee. Well can't count her anyhow, she’z from NY. Migrated down to Texas just as the Bush family did years ago.

Well, I'm a Class of '98 FReeper, so...

Do you not understand that Cruz clearly came in second in the Republican primaries? Not Jeb, not Marco or Christie. He’s 45 years old. He’ll be handily re-elected in 2018 in the biggest Republican state in the union. Dustbin my Aunt Fannie.

Second the motion...

Bushies wrecked the “GOP brand” and Trump is saving it for the future of the country. We sure as hell don’t need Jebbie’s advice on how to move forward.

That little (6’4”) pissant was never a threat to DJT.

Jebbie, your opinions are not welcome because you are a loser.

You hit your best stride as Governor of Florida. Fade into obscurity gracefully. I voted for you twice because you were the best candidate. You get no more support for me.

Ted Cruz knows one thing. How to make friends into enemies.
What did he do the piss off his fellow Republicans? Nobody liked him! He would do best as a Supreme Court Justice. They don't need to make friends, just rule on law as individuals.

He showed his “sore luzer” colors at the Republican Convention. I will never forget that crappy speech.
