Top Donald Trump aide Kellyanne Conway said she is receiving a deluge of comments about the possibility of Mitt Romney being selected as secretary of State.

"Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney," Conway said, linking to a story about Trump loyalists who are unhappy with the possibility.

She also stressed loyalty as a key trait for a secretary of State in a follow-up tweet.

Bolton actually has foreign policy experience. Romney has what experience to bring to the table?

What ever president elect Trump’s decision is, it’s his to make.

A president is not bound to take the pulse of the citizenry and do what’s most popular; we hired him to use his judgment. At this point, I will trust his judgment on Romney.

Romney will step down the first sign of trouble and use that as a starting off point to Primary Trump

That Romney fronted, financed and provided Evan McMuffin -- er -- McMullin with his email/donor list in an effort to SCREW TRUMP out of the Utah electoral votes was a supreme act of betrayal!

Too bad Mittster wasn't that "clever" against obozo!

Mitt Romney as SoS would be almost as bad as the last two.

“Could Romney serve as Secretary of State? He probably could”

Yeah, as Tucker Carlson said last night “ just look at the buffoons we’ve had as SOS in recent years.” Then he named Kerry as a shining example.

I guess “honorable mention” would go to Hitlary, Irritable Bowel, and Maddie Albright. The only problem we face is the burning need to get rid of big chunks of the intrenched commies in the State Department, and I would worry that Mittens wouldn’t take up the task. I guess the big first step there will be to substantially cut foreign “aid.”

f Trump feels he has to have Romney in the State Department, he should appoint him ambassador to São Tomé e Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau or Kiribati.

It would NOT be the wisest thing to do, to have Mittens anywhere near this admin.

It would be a knife waiting for a back.

I believe the depths of his deviousness and nastiness demonstrates it’s not a shallow “oops, I got it wrong and now I’ll be a loyal good person” on Romney’s part. Rather, it exposes his hard core unrelenting commitment toward global ideas and his resolve to aggressively do whatever is necessary to achieve those ideals. Just my opinion.

“There is no place for him in a Trump administration. “

Or in the New Republican Party, for that matter.

In this case, Trump needs to listen to "the People" who understand the ideas underlying their individual liberty--not the political hacks who see compromise as a virtue in political leaders.

Back in 2012, on a FR thread about Romney, one of my posts read:

"Romney will lose to Obama, because he fits right into the narrative of the so-called "progressives" and becomes their perfect opponent.

"If these "GOP establishment" types, using the Left's tactics, force a Romney candidacy, then they must be held accountable for the consequences, including the loss of liberty for their posterity.

"The Fall campaign will be a battle of ideas. Romney is no ideas warrior.

"Obama understands the foundations of his ideology, and he understands how to frame those ideas in a manner that is misleading and appealing to those whom he wishes to enslave to government.

"Romney shows no capacity for understanding nor articulating the ideas essential to liberty, and the way he frames what he does understand does not excite passion.

"Oh, how we need a Jefferson or an Adams!"

Why did Washington name Jefferson to represent America in Europe? Might it be that Jefferson, the Author of America's Declaration of Independence, could best represent the ideas underlying liberty?

Lou Dobbs did a segment last night with clips from Romney’s overseas visit during his presidential run. He was less than diplomatic and that surprised me but maybe running for president made him more outspoken. However, some of his comments were dumb.

My thinking is that the State Department needs to be gutted and Romney is a Corporate Raider by trade. AKA, Gordon Gecko.
It might just be what the Dr ordered?

I agree with you. Not sure that Romney agrees that he messed up, but I think he would probably do a good job. The Secretary of State position is not a free agent. He serves at the pleasure of the president. He can be replaced. Trump can choose to be vindictive and pay Romney back, or he can put Romney, a well qualified choice, in the position with the benefit of muting the opposition from the never trumpers and GOPe. I'm going to trust Trump on this. He is very savvy. He outplayed Hillary, the DNC, the MSM, Hollywood, the GOPe. This is not a time for knee jerk reactions. It is a time for strategy. Trump is a master at that.

How could you ever trust him again? Seriously.

If there is ANY doubt about him, then there is NO doubt about him.
