Would be good for production here. We need good HVAC manufacturers and jobs here.

Just goes to show you how complicated these trade issues are. Some states lost their manufacturing base years ago — to other U.S. states, not foreign competition. Syracuse went into a steep decline when Carrier moved a lot of their operations out of there years ago and relocated to Tennessee and North Carolina.

He is probably telling them about rolling back regulations and taxes.

1700 good jobs on the line.

Godspeed, Mr. Trump in your efforts.

No one, and I mean no one, in the GOP would be doing this.

The President’s job should be to make the legal/tax environment such that companies want to produce here and keep their headquarters here.

Would we be happy about Obama singling out a company and “putting pressure” on them to do something?

I hope Trump is trying to persuade them by describing the changes he intends to make, not threatening them.

Yeah, I know, incoming...

From WSJ 3 days ago....

See where Trump puts the USA with a 15% corporate tax

A BIG WIN.

US tax rate will drop below the Proposed 17% in UK...only Ireland is lower.

And what it will cost them to bring their foreign made products back across our border. Carrot AND stick.

I understand what you are saying, but it is going to be a different day under Trump. I think this is a good idea for him to reach out to CEO’s and encourage them to stay because he is going to make some positive changes.

The job and manufacturing transfers from NAFTA have killed us.

All ‘corporate’ taxes are eventually paid by the consumer.

One South American country had a similar problem and went from just about last in terms of its economy to the fastest growing economy in the world...and it did it in a remarkably short time frame. The keys: It lowered its business tax rate to 15% and made its highest personal income tax rate 17%. Its economic growth rate went through the roof. The country: Chile.

Now, with the US having the highest corporate tax rate on the planet, what would happen if Trump lowered tax rates to 15% and capped personal taxes at 17%? There would be an influx of business investment from the Pacific Rim that would make your head swim. And for those who think tax cuts would augment the deficit, look what happened after the Kennedy and Reagan tax cuts to federal income. Then, if you need to understand why that happened, read up on the Laffer Curve.

Trump knows all this. Now if he can just get the tax-and-spend-to-keep-me-in-office Congress to understand it, we’re home free.

One can make a convincing argument that Trump will have achieved more positive benefits for the the United States before he takes office than Barry did in all of his 8 years of golfing, vacationing, and squatting in the White House.
