Trump to scrap Nasa climate research in crackdown on ‘politicized science’

Donald Trump is poised to eliminate all climate change research conducted by Nasa as part of a crackdown on “politicized science”, his senior adviser on issues relating to the space agency has said.

Nasa’s Earth science division is set to be stripped of funding in favor of exploration of deep space, with the president-elect having set a goal during the campaign to explore the entire solar system by the end of the century.

This would mean the elimination of Nasa’s world-renowned research into temperature, ice, clouds and other climate phenomena. Nasa’s network of satellites provide a wealth of information on climate change, with the Earth science division’s budget set to grow to $2bn next year. By comparison, space exploration has been scaled back somewhat, with a proposed budget of $2.8bn in 2017.

Bob Walker, a senior Trump campaign adviser, said there was no need for Nasa to do what he has previously described as “politically correct environmental monitoring”.

6. a breakthrough in very high speed travel technology and gravity based “instant” real time and quantum particle excitement properties communication.

I was wondering if anyone had ever considered using gravity somehow to send instantaneous signals traveling faster than that turtle-paced speed of light.

He thinks the bible dictates it.

More experienced luminaries, like C. S. Lewis, were unable to find any definitive proof. It really depends on a line of human theology.

However, many endeavors of NASA have NOT been focused on any exobiology issues, but upon the very things that make space wonderful. These all bear witness to the Lord; why should we egotistically try to head that off?

Its no lie.

The useful tech was all developed for telecom.

The military and space are a closed loop.

Your tinfoil is getting egotistically tight... and if there was anyone who would be in a position to brag on telecom, it really would be yours truly. But it isn’t justified.

Wrong again. My husband worked in telecomm before law school. Many more innovations came from space exploration. These can be found elsewhere but this is a good condensation

That’s not a statement grounded in fact. Your reply ranks up with the flat-earthers of 500+ years ago. That kind of mindset would’ve seen us never leave Europe or the Mediterranean to explore the rest of the world.

Earth is not all there is in the universe, and it certainly does not say that in the bible. The universe is vast beyond our comprehension and we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of discovering what’s out there, and He created it all. I don’t believe for a moment he meant for us to be bound simply to where we are for all of mankind’s existence.

For a monomaniac theory of significant anthropogenic climate change, that is.

Robert Walker is a GREAT GUY. Saw him speak decades ago in a non-partisan type event and even then he could barely hold himself back from cutting loose on the left.

If Trump is using him, we can all sleep soundly - he’s that good!!!

You’re probably too young to understand, but solid state electronics came out of Bell labs and National Semiconductor, right next door.

I was a teenager who was fixated on vacuum tubes at the time.

The word said no other life exists? And that was because earth is the center of or the “purpose of the universe.” Is this correct?

That is correct.

When Yehova is done with Earth, the whole shebang goes up “with fervent heat.”

Try reading Peter’s epistles, and the Revelation’s last few chapters.

Second term?

1. manned missions to mars.

2. Science station in martian orbit

3. robotic missions to Jupiter’s moons run from cape of the US/Russian mars science and space center

4. manned mars stations under construction.

5. privatization of property rights on any potential habitable or resource rich planets and moons within our solar system.

6. a breakthrough in very high speed travel technology and gravity based “instant” real time and quantum particle excitement properties communication.

7. attempted launch of deep deep space penetration to nearest solar system in the centauri quadrants... may fail but we will learn the secrets and technologies of deep space travel.

Nice try...but I believe top priority in the Trump second term will be a massive "Manhattan Project" to prepare for the coming ice age.

And 25 years of my career were in Bell Laboratories and its offshoots and predecessors.

They did amazing things in telecom, beyond question. I sometimes envied, from my lesser, hayseed seat in Illinois, what was going on in New Jersey. That is how I became a hi tech red neck.

However. No honest corner of human curiosity about the creation has gone unrewarded. The whole creation bears witness to the glory of God. That’s not a piece of the creation, that’s the whole creation.

Abusus non tollit usum. A corruption in an area of inquiry does not render the entire area without use. Has telecom been simon pure? I’m not sure about that. There was a fair amount of B.S. that went on even in Bell Labs, and I saw complaints about it. The work was considered so elite, that half baked things frequently got slung around. The company that once thought the future was so bright it had to wear shades, in fact found the future was so dark it had to wear night vision goggles. It now kind of limps along as Alcatel-Lucent.

Climate study funding can come from the UN, France, Switzerland, China, Russia. Saudi Arabia. Maybe go to the Clinton Foundation, the Ford Foundation, The Gates Foundation and let them fund the research. Then we will see how much value there is worldwide for climate studies. Trump should also stop all research grants to universities for climate changes. No more tax breaks for solar companies or blowing 3 B on a solar panel company that failed.

Revelation 20:11

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
