For many years, the biggest name in Michigan Republican politics has been DeVos.
With billions of dollars in Amway wealth, the family has long backed conservative causes across the country, including school choice.
The DeVos family backed Romney in 2012. Its support may have been crucial for him as he squeaked past Rick Santorum by three points to notch a crucial win before Super Tuesday.
On Feb. 25, the family picked its horse in the 2016 GOP primary: Marco Rubio...

I don’t think she’s interested in elected office. I’m confident she accepted the nomination because she is genuinely passionate about education. But she’s a billionaire, enjoys being a power broker and will remain active in supporting her favored candidates for the foreseeable future. She might well be valuable in 2020 if Trump runs for reelection.
