A Vanquished Press Fails To Comprehend Its Defeat by Trump
The New York Sun ^ | 22 Nov 2016 | Conrad Black

As there is an incessant crescendo, still gaining in volume each week, about President Obama’s “legacy,” I thought it appropriate to try to identify this legacy, which his supporters believe history will honor. I have written here and elsewhere that, apart from breaking the color barrier and disposing of bin Laden, I am hard pressed to think of anything useful in his legacy.

Never have I been an Obama hater or someone who disputed his patriotism. I do think that Mr. Obama is rather subdued about the tired pieties of “American exceptionalism” and that this is not unjustified given his background and the fact that that exceptionalism is now almost exclusively a matter of the economic scale on which the country operates. The United States is not now one of the world’s better-functioning democracies, though it is certainly the premier democracy, as the indispensable nation in the triumph of democracy and of the free market in much of the post-colonial and post–Cold War world.

...

I looked at Remnick’s very lengthy review of the Obama presidency and description of the president’s response to Trump’s election in the New Yorker of November 28. Mr. Remnick makes no secret of his unwavering and unlimited admiration for the president. The grief-stricken elegies of Abraham Lincoln, even unto Henry Ward Beecher, the toadying chronicles of the great liberal hallelujah chorus for Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the mawkish potboilers mass-produced by the Kennedy entourage could be ransacked in vain to find a rival to the body of Mr. Remnick’s works of ultra-secular canonization in laudation of Barack Obama.

We usually try to study the candidates. But if we can’t, we just vote against any and all candidates and propositions the media’s trying to shove down our throats . Works every time!

The mountain of Mr. Remnick’s adulation gives birth to a tiny, squeaking mouse. His explanation of Mr. Trump’s success, the tedious screed about Trump the psychotic, extremist dumbbell, is just a jangling echo of the Democratic campaign: a coast-to-coast, wall-to-wall smear job in the absence of any argument for the reelection of the Democrats. It would have been no less fair for the Republicans to have tied Mr. Obama hand-and-foot to Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright.

Mr. Trump won because the United States has had the 15 worst years of misgovernment by all branches and both parties, and the only period of absolute and relative decline, in its history. The new president will have a clear mandate for reform of taxes, spending, health care, immigration, and campaign financing; for a workfare program to address decrepit infrastructure; and for a redefinition of the national interest between George W. Bush’s mindless interventionism andMr. Obama’s Panglossian crusade to make friends of America’s enemies.

The reason for is because they were and still are on the same socialist/Muslim side. The goal was to create a global government through the alliance.

Your first clue about have been when G.H.W. Bush cleaned out Reagan’s appointment wholesale.

G. W.’s “Islam is a religion of peace” assertion should have been Final confirmation, especially as he then began to staff the DOD and the Pentagon with Muslims.

The reason the Bush clan didn’t vote for Trump isn’t because of his demeanor. It is because he is a nationalist.

Trump has a big advantage and I hope he uses it. He can whisper down the lane with the press, then when they run with a dubious story he can smack them down.

Amen to your tag line. IMHO, if you post something on FR that is your own thoughts, that’s a vanity no matter the subject.

Thanks for posting the more relevant excerpt.

As a high volume consumer of FR content, there’s nothing I hate worse than having to give clicks to MSM sites, because the OP doesn’t provide enough info to spell out the gist of the article.

” because the OP doesn’t provide enough info to spell out the gist of the article.”

Once, a long time ago, posters read the article and gave an insight to start the conversation.

What background? His father was not born in America, his mother is white and obama himself grew up in Hawaii?

This will only work towards an opening for half the country to migrate viewing a new conservative or truly unbiased news network such as One America News (OAN) or other network to exploit the MSM failure with the door now open for competition not beholding or owned by a major corporate conglomerate. There is room for an upstart and true competition to Fox and will help put a nail in the coffin of ABCNNBCBS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The media thought that it had become the power broker after successfully campaigning for 0bama in 2008 and 2012. This time around, enough people didn’t pay attention to them, and Trump won with an EC landslide, and probably the popular vote if all the fraudulent votes for Clinton were to be subtracted. This has outraged them, and they have decided that they didn’t work hard enough at smearing Trump, so they are going to continue doing just that.

I honestly don’t think that most people comprehend how much the media was destroyed. They do everything in the book at him and still couldn’t overcome other media and him going directly to the people. They are irrelevant
