Welcome to Washington’s new normal: One Trump drama after another
Wash Post via MSN.com ^ | 11/22/2016 | Philip Rucker, Marc Fisher

Posted on 11/23/2016 5:44:22 AM PST by dirtboy

For Donald Trump, little is more intoxicating and affirming of his own power than creating tornadoes and watching them tear across the landscape.

In the space of just 24 hours this week, the president-elect set off cyclones near and far that preview the drama he seems likely to bring to the White House.

Trump summoned two dozen television executives and news anchors to his offices Monday to berate them as dishonest and disobedient. He sought to strong-arm the British government to appoint his Brexit ally, Nigel Farage, as ambassador to the United States. He dropped his threat to prosecute Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, disregarding his “lock her up” campaign chant and incurring the wrath of some reliable supporters.

Then there was Tuesday’s meeting with The New York Times, the newspaper Trump loves to mock as “failing.” It was scheduled, then canceled, then rescheduled. And once the president-elect settled in at the Grey Lady’s boardroom, he softened his position on climate change, floated the idea that his son-in-law could broker peace in the Middle East, voiced new doubts about the effectiveness of torturing terrorism suspects, savaged Republicans who wavered on his candidacy and left unresolved concerns about how — or even whether — he would disassociate himself from his global business holdings to avoid conflicts of interest.

Whew.

Agree. Trump was the only one fighting like the Dems do. And the Dems and their Media always had their panties in a wad and were giving off the vapors because Trump was fighting fire with fire. The politics of personal destruction came to DC with the Clintons. It is only fitting that Hillary would be undone by her own tactics.

24/7 updates on the homeless, unemployment, white supremacy and heart-rending deportations.

The homeless, who disappeared for 8 years, will suddenly be ubiquitous.

The shell game with which the phony current unemployment numbers were created out of thin air will be disposed of, replaced by an ever rising number attributable, of course, to Trump's economic policies.

The handful of white supremacy loonies who the MSM can "discover" or create, will loudly proclaim loyalty to Trump on every newsstand, news site and TV screen.

EVERY deportation will be accompanied by images of tearful children and grieving relatives decrying the draconian Trump policy of adhering to the law. The camera will then pan to a somber "journalist" who will look plaintively into the camera and, wiping away a tear, ask "how long will you let this outrage go on?"

The MSM 24/7 news cycle 2017 - 2021.

He sought to strong-arm the British government

Pearl-clutching times ten. The "strong-arm", in toto:

Maybe Trump’s strategy is to just exhaust them.
I don’t think even the most devoted snowflakes can keep this up for four years.

Gee, I'd like to see Nigel in New York.

I'd buy him a beer and tell him about all the fun I had visiting London.

The non-prosecution of Hitlery was a stroke of genius in removing the Bolshies from the impeachment coalition, he can always go back and prosecute her if they join in an impeachment. Except, for pissing me off, it makes the Republicans join with him.

With The Donald you have no idea what it means when he says that he will not seek to prosecute her. I am keeping an open mind on the matter. My guess is it means “not at this time” and “not by me” but not “never” and “not by an independent not controlled by me Justice Department”.

Always put everything he says in the context of a negotiation and if you want to know what he is actually agreeing to you will need to be very very very specific and get it in writing or a handshake in front of witnesses.

And that is all meant to be a compliment.

He is going to suck all the air out of the 24/7 news cycle.

Their snarky hit pieces are not going to get any traction.

Trump is working in real time, the news cycle (especially opinion pieces are at minimum 24 hours old). By the time they get around to comment on them, Trump is 50 miles down the road.

Agree. He is toying with them to see how they continue with their slant on anything he says. That way he knows if they really want to be different. Once in office he will outright expose any duplicity on their part, by letting them know I met with you to broker peace but you wanted war , so here it is..

Go Donald...

Agree. All that “ other peoples money” wasted on ads that left her the one holding the crying towel.

She can join Jeb in the spend a lot get nothing column....
