Toni Morrison: White Voters ‘Eagerly Embraced’ Trump Out Of Fear Of A ‘Collapse of White Privilege’
Breitbart ^ | 22 nov 2016 | Jerome Hudson

Posted on 11/23/2016 4:03:19 AM PST by drewh

Author Toni Morrison says white Americans overwhelmingly supported President-elect Donald Trump due to fears that “their natural superiority is being lost.” “Unlike any nation in Europe, the United States holds whiteness as the unifying force,” Morrison writes in an essay for the New Yorker, entitled “Mourning for Whiteness.”

Morrison catalogues an apparent list of concerns held by white Trump voters: “There are ‘people of color’ everywhere, threatening to erase this long-understood definition of America. And what then? Another black President? A predominantly black Senate? Three black Supreme Court Justices? The threat is frightening.”

The Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author also explains the lengths white Americans have gone to “restore whiteness to its former status as a marker of national identity”:

Morrison blames the election of Trump on eager “white voters” who “embraced the shame and fear sowed” by the President-elect:

On Election Day, how eagerly so many white voters—both the poorly educated and the well educated—embraced the shame and fear sowed by Donald Trump. The candidate whose company has been sued by the Justice Department for not renting apartments to black people. The candidate who questioned whether Barack Obama was born in the United States, and who seemed to condone the beating of a Black Lives Matter protester at a campaign rally. The candidate who kept black workers off the floors of his casinos. The candidate who is beloved by David Duke.

Morrison’s is one of sixteen such post-election essays on “Trump’s America” appearing in the November 21 print edition of the New Yorker.

This is a terrific technique you are utilizing to sway me towards voting for your preferred candidate.
So by me *not* casting my ballot towards an elderly, white, and criminal person...that somehow makes me racist?
You are so darn smart, Toni. Thank you for the wise guidance!

It was about the Middle working class.....this was NOT a color issue for Trump. He left no one out.

It was about hard working Americans who are picking up the tab at every turn.

Look at Hillary's campaign. It was about as "racist" as you can get...appealing to strategic areas of blacks and Latinos, Mexicans....it was an anti-white campaign.

Her goal was to defeat the intent of the electoral college to overcome "block voting" which is the way Obuma won...not once...but twice.

Interestingly enough, if you read "55 Men and the Constitution" you will find that our forefathers actually predicted Obama's victory.....IMOW....when the gimmees outnumber the workers". Well worth reading.

That book also notes the problem of the USSC having no "check".

Thanks very much for the racist hag’s photo.

My reasons for voting for President-Elect Trump are none of her business, outside of her limited ability to ever conceive and totally unrelated to race.

Let’s say for a moment she’s right. And?

Socialists always want everyone to have an equal share of the same misery. As you said, let's say she's right. She's not, but let's say she is. I believe it's preferable to raise everyone up rather than to drag some people down.

I love it. Keep it up, left-wingers! Every one of these news stories convinces more family-oriented, hard-working, normal ordinary Democrats that the Democrat party is no longer compatible with their lives.
