Israeli media have reported several important donations made in years past by both the late Fred Trump and his son, now President Elect Donald Trump.
Some 50 years ago, real estate developer Fredrick Trump donated the land for the Talmud Torah of the Beach Haven Jewish Center at 723 Ave. Z in Flatbush, NY, as can be seen from a promotional image released by that institution. The center is open and active to this day, offering programs for youth and the elderly, as well as an active synagogue.

And obama, meanwhile....
It’s that old fashioned thing called “salvation.”
Ah, everyone’s an individual. I dont like it when blanket statement are made about Catholics.
Jews in NYC voted the MOST against Deblasio as a group.
I’d be more interested in the percentage of religious Catholics and Jews who vote conservative.
Old testament is as conservative as you can get! :)
Can’t follow the Torah/Bible strongly and be a liberal.
My Jewish friends are great guys and gals and their parents (usually born in Israel) treat me like GOLD.
They remind me of Italians with their warmth :)
And before I go... salvation was not a concept that the Jewish people did or do not know. The Psalms, and Jewish history itself, are full of stories and praise of it. No excuses there, no characterizing it as something that only the earthly Jesus of Nazareth ever uttered a peep about.
There is a problem with salvation, however. Our pride fights it. We (as humanity in general, of which Jews and Gentiles both are a part) keep wanting to think we, as humanity, can figure out how to save ourselves without retreating back to ground zero, which is utter dependency on God. Whatever else the Holocaust occasioned, it was the most intense prayer that had been seen in the world yet on the part of the Jewish people for salvation, salvation, salvation. God wants to hear that prayer in earnest understanding that we have nothing else without it.
God answered it too, with the tumult of modern history. Both Jews and Gentiles had to learn some painful lessons for salvation to take hold, but teach them God did.
High pressure...been there in investment banks!
Had a manger at UBS who was Jewish.
She offered me a supervisor job in graphics and when she told me the salary I nearly jumped across the table to accept!!
Jack, a Jewish fella who trained me in graphics, had NO GOOD reason to keep me on. I was sent as a temp to do book keeping and ended up in the graphics dept with NO knowledge.
He trained me from scratch on his own time. I let him talk the liberal talk but he wasn’t. :) Great guy AND a capitalist at heart!!
My Jewish friends are great guys and gals and their parents (usually born in Israel) treat me like GOLD.

If the parents were “Sabras” (native born Israelis) then they are indeed warm, tolerant and...tough.
There’s a weird philosophy that goes around in Judaica. That if the society will tolerate, say, Obama or Hillary, then it will tolerate Jews too... therefore the smart thing to do is to cast your vote and dedicate your support to those lefties, who would most likely as soon look at you as kill you, given the opportunity.
It might be “smart” but it isn’t “wise.” If it weren’t for God watching over them (as He also does fools and drunks) then they’d think themselves right into a hell on earth, rather than a blessing. God keeps on moving the road around, as it were, to accommodate where their wild wheels are turning. This is a story of God’s love.
Yeah almost all were born in Israel.
Blue Collar folk and their kids were college kids.
My pop was from Italy, blue collar and I went to college.
Both handed down the language.
A lot of parallels.
At least it’s that way in parts of Brooklyn :)
Now just a minute there. The WP and NYT scoured every charity in the world and determined that Trump was Ebenezer Scrooge. Seen it on CNN.
[This is a story of God’s love.]
And Christians who are truly dedicated will also notice the same phenomenon.
I have. I didn’t deserve the blessings I have seen. God was moving the road around to accommodate where my wild wheels have gone, although sometimes still letting me crash in order to learn some things better.
Great post. Their distrust due to historic antisemitism by Christians is valid.
It takes a while to build trust again. I think American Christians have slowly earned that trust.
I’ve deserved everything I got and now as a semi broken repentant man, I leave it all in God’s hands.
I was bad news and he gave me a lot of unheeded warnings.
If not for his grace, things could be much worse for me.
This “Scrooge” was busy working help in ways that were not “formal giving to Charities.”
Humanity deserved the bad things... not the good things.
As I might say to my Hindu colleagues... this is about as far from karma as west is from the east.
My guy was a specialist at developing information. I learned a lot from him and he’s responsible for a lot of the skillsets I have today. One thing the Jewish people have are a lot of contacts. They are connected in a way that most people aren’t I learned. They understand that knowledge is power and useful for keeping people on a leash when they normally wouldn’t. Unfortunately I think the Clintons know this too and used it for years to do the same...lol
Yep.
I tell ya, working overnight during the week and being up all night on weekends cause I’m used to it, there’s always a few night owls on FR to chat with.
That’s a blessing :)
You mean to tell me that CNN, WP, and the NYT got something of this importance wrong? Who would have thunk it!
Also, the ultimate rapprochement is due to God, not even the self efforts of Christians.
There has been a tragic tendency of Christians to let the faith hollow out little by little, and before we know it, we have a Christianesque cultural Christianity which tries to use the world’s methods. It has often said “Jews bad, Christians good, only Christians smart enough to incur salvation” when it really ought to be saying “World bad, God good, Christ stoops to save.” The New Testament writers all spoke of a scene where God would cause believing Jews and believing Gentiles to understand that through God’s condescension they comprised one blessed called group, an ekklesia, which in English translates to what sounds like a dog whistle, “church.”
For all this to fall back on the grace of God is the only cure to the hollow, shallow faith.
We’re watching it happen, I think.
I believe NONE of what I HEAR and only about HALF of what I
SEE. Now, with “Photoshop”, I don’t even believe HALF of
what I SEE!
My first real job as a kid in a produce department the assistant manager was Irving. He was so darn funny and theatrical and took great pride in his work. I would make runs down to the corner deli for him for his coffee and cigars and he would treat me to a cup too. That tall Jewish guy was a blast to work with and his mannerisms were cartoon character like. He missed his calling as I think he would have been great in Theater somehow. I loved that guy and still think of him ‘Wagons Hoooooooooooo’ Irving.
