Melania and Barron Trump won’t be moving to the White House
NY Post ^ | November 20, 2016 | Isabel Vincent

Future First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron will not be moving to the White House after Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, The Post has learned.

The president-elect’s 46-year-old wife and their 10-year-old son are staying put at the family’s glitzy Trump Tower penthouse so that Barron can continue attending his Upper West Side private school, sources told The Post.

“Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign,” said a source close to Trump’s transition team. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”

Another source said Melania Trump will travel to the White House as needed, but that her primary focus is on Barron.

“Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady,” said the second source familiar with the Trump transition.

That source said also that there is a possibility that Melania and Barron may move to the White House at the end of the school year, but no plans are in place.

“She is really devoted to Barron,” said a source close to the family, adding that Melania has not relied on nannies to raise the child and is frequently seen picking the fourth-grader up from his prep school, where tuition is north of $40,000.

The decision to remain in their Midtown home will increase the security presence around Trump Tower — an effort that will involve both Secret Service and the NYPD, an expert familiar with high-level security told The Post.

“That building is going to become the White House of New York,” said Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina.

Is there a single school in Washington D C where Baron wouldn’t be bullied because of his father? The elites of DC are overwhelmingly (maybe 99%) liberal. The Obama daughters were adored and fawned over. It would be very different for Barron.

We do not know what the trumps know about their child’s needs

He's a year behind. At 10, he should be in 5th grade instead of 4th.

Oh, Trump is somewhat liberal himself, but plenty of the DC Insiders would likely hate his guts. I wouldn’t put hating the family beyond them either.

Being the son of Donald Trump, Barron has already had notoriety since birth. That’s all he knows in fact, unlike my neighbor’s young child for instance.

They wanted the White House. I hope they live in the White House as a family. But again, just my personal opinion.

And also again, homeschooling is a wonderful option they should consider.

Flame suit on, but I don’t like this. For 8 years we’ve been complaining how much it costs to take care of Michelle, this will cost the government a lot of money. Not to mention the problems this will cause for the citizens of NYC.

WH needs renovations could take a year

And you can bet the private living quarters are in bad shape too.

I think there are some flaws in your logic. Baron is at school with kids he has been with for years. The great majority of them come from backgrounds like his ($40K/yr tuition). Why would he have had notoriety there?

I don’t think they wanted the White House. I think Donald Trump wanted to give back to his country and he believed he had the responsibility to do so because he was one of the few who had the ability to do so without becoming beholding to special interests & lobbyists. IOW he could not stand aside while America fell.

I did homeschool my youngest, originally due to illness, but in retrospect the best path we could have taken. I agree it is a great option when it makes sense for a family and homeschoolers have many advantages in preparation and grounding. I would never presume to prescribe it because it would be convenient for others.

I’d bet we Tax Serfs pay their tuition too.

Trump will pay for his son’s tuition, just as he will pay for Melania’s clothing which all those designers from her modeling days will be glad to design for. Like Ralph Lauren.

She doesn’t need the Ghetto designer MOOCH uses.

Let the media maggots spin their wheels on this. The rest of the wheels will fall off once Trump begins to put his policies in place.

Melania Trump’s choice to protect her son during this chaotic time is admirable. What grade is Barron Trump in? Fifth? Sixth? Maybe in September he can make the move to DC...

Hopefully you won’t see this as a flame. I think you are being shortsighted.
President Elect Trump will not be taking a salary, he said he will not be taking vacations, I think it is very likely they will not be having elaborate parties like the current occupants. The family was not going to live huddled up like ducklings so they were always going to need his & her secret service agents and a team to check school and after school activities.

What does it matter if some of that is done in NY & some in DC? If it is a little more $, which I doubt we will be saving considerably on the whole cost. BO & MO took separate planes, separate vacations, all those date nights, golf outings, flying in their chef. I just don’t see the issue.

Just turned 10 yrs old on March 20, 2006.

The fifth grade is the fifth school year of elementary school. Depending on the school district, the grade may be the second to last or last year of elementary school, the first year of middle school or the first year of intermediate school. Students are usually 10–11 years old.

And you thought I like homeschooling for convenience? Nope, sorry to disappoint. I think it’s the best option for any child for all the right reasons.

And to disappoint you further, I too think Mr. Trump didn’t want to stand by while America continued to slide downward. To be able to give back to his country, he had to do it from the White House. Thus, he wanted the White House as I mentioned.

As for Barron’s situation, it just can’t be denied...notoriety has always been a part of his life.

Guess we can agree to disagree!

Indeed. Until the Trumps say for certain it’s just speculation.

...”Good! Can you imagine what kind of bullying and torment he would be subject to in DC? He needs to stay in a place with friends and teachers who like him.”...

He is at a crucial age when friends are so important. She is a wonderful Mother to put his well-being first. He does not need to be where he can be harassed by the cruel people who are out there. The less his life changes, the better. He is a very handsome young man, and so lucky to have a loving Mother.

Be thankful the remodel will be after our Terrorist in Chief leaves. It makes it easier to sweep for bugs.

We certainly can agree to disagree. I did not suggest homeschooling was a choice for convenience. It takes much too much time & effort for that. I did say that I was forced to go that road at first but continued it by choice. My daughter started college with 36 credits from those homeschool years and graduated college with honors.

I disagree with you because to me the White House is just a house, it has been other houses, other locations. The symbolism to me is of the desk at which the buck stops, the steady hand on the tiller, the keen eye for America’s welfare and best path forward.

I think the Trump family would and should put Baron’s interests above what people think looks fitting. I trust them to look to America’s and also to their son’s.

“But it was like 2 am and the kid was probably exhausted. With my kid you would have seen crying probably.”

I admit that time was a factor, but there are few pics of him grinning, the way kids do. Something is “off”.

I certainly think the decision to keep him in his current school is the correct one.

Malia graduated last June and is currently on her gap year accomplishing zero. Come January, the Obamas are moving in two doors down from Tony Podesta so Sasha can continue at Sidwell with all their demonrat friends.

Secret Service nightmare and how much will it cost taxpayers?

How much did having the dog and basketballs fly in their own planes? Trump isn't taking his salary which would pay for a few extra SS dudes.
