Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Sunday that Mitt Romney is under "active consideration" to serve as secretary of State in a Donald Trump administration.
"The president-elect was very grateful that the Gov. Mitt Romney came out," Pence said on "Fox News Sunday." "They had a good meeting. It was a warm and a substantive exchange."
Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, met with Trump on Saturday to discuss foreign policy.
Pence said he and members of the Trump team spent about an hour with Romney. He said the team talked through substantive issues.

Well, the media will finally get their Democrat in a cabinet position.
It really is almost all personal acrimony between the two. Trump endorsed Mitt in 2012. Burying the hatchet of the 2016 campaign may be a hatchet too far though. If they can do it, it will only mean that Trump thinks we are better off with Romney at SoS than not. It wouldn’t be an olive branch in my opinion.

i doubt there’s a good way to graft the gope king romney onto this administration.
The one thing which isn’t talked about...is that Romney is a business-minded guy and can at least sit at a table and discuss the economy with world leaders (not like Hillary or any of the past five or six Secretaries of State). I also doubt that he’s bought off by the Saudis. You could do a lot worse.
Romney still has a faction within the GOP. It’s OK to throw them a bone and “consider” their leader for a high post.

Lots of folks trying to second guess trump as he asserts that he will be the boss and he intends to fulfill his promises - I picture Romney kissing his ring to maintain a sense of relevance so he doesn't wash down the gutter with the other ashes of failed history...If Trump picks him there will be no misunderstanding of the terms and it will also serve to de-fang a large sector of the #NeverTrump cabal.
Trump has proven time and again that he's nobody's fool - I'm comfortable letting him make the decisions without going into a tailspin of the "what ifs"..
