A senate rule change championed by outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid could leave Democrats powerless to stop any of President-elect Donald Trumps cabinet appointments.
In 2013, Sen. Reid and other Democrats pushed forward with a rule change dubbed the nuclear option to eliminate filibusters for all presidential nominations except Supreme Court justices. This means that a simple majority of 51 votes instead of 60 votes is necessary to confirm executive office appointments.
The Republicans are set to enter 2017 with at least 51 senators and can gain another seat with a likely win in the December senate run-off race in Louisiana

He wouldn't have had to if Scalia hadn't been died mysteriously under suspicious circumstances. I still don't trust him. He's backstabbed the American people on too many other things. Earmarks which are illegal or one.
But Scalia did, in fact, die.
Without someone to stand up and block Obama & Co we would have another Liberal justice.
How many decades would it take to overcome such a national disaster?
Many, many.
I have distrusted McConnell for years and years based on his earning my distrust in the only way he could, being a traitor to ordinary Republicans.
However, what he has done during the last 6 months is more than enough to wipe away all those traitorous actions and inaction’s.
I haven’t forgotten all the terrible things he’s done, but in my book, he’s forgiven all and has a fresh start.
