Trump team eyes Scott Brown for Veterans Affairs secretary

Scott Brown is being considered for Veterans Affairs secretary — a position the former Massachusetts Republican senator says he would accept if offered.

“The VA is in trouble. Soldiers are dying while waiting, employee morale is low and it needs to be fixed,” Brown told The Post in an email.

“Having served for 35 years in military, last 4 years at Pentagon, serving on Armed Services, Veterans and working on these issues for decades, it would be a great challenge to fix and a great honor to serve if asked. Time will tell,” he added.

Brown, who moved a couple years ago to New Hampshire to run for Senate there, was an early and instrumental supporter of Trump before the first-in-the-nation primary there.

Was this the same Scott Brown who was supposed to be the last vote to nullify Obamatard, I mean Obamacare?

Yes. But Harry Reid refused to seat him until the Senate passed Obamacare.

The “humor” concerns the many alleged reports of unsubstantiated appointments.

Regarding Brown being qualified? I say, No. He’s a player.

Might be a decent choice.

Heard a ‘suggestion’ today— not sure if Rush or Chris Plante— but the name Mitt Romney came up as head of VA as he does have a rep as a ‘fixer’....

Didn’t he rescue the Olympics are at least took over and made them ‘work’ when in the US?

‘We’ need FIXERS in high places, not self serving bureaucrats who are worried about weeweeing off the upper echelon of Govt Agencies and not be afraid to CAN those that need canning OR caning....

Have you read the Trump veterans benefits plan? It sort of does that. It comes close merging medicare/medicade/social security and the veterans healthsystem. It makes the plans portable and provides for vets to see any doctor.

I could live with this choice. Plus Brown has been extremely loyal to Trump

He’s a player.

WTF does that mean?

He's a Trump loyalist and very well qualified. Just look at his resume while serving on several senate veterans panels.

That is a tremendous pair of ideas! I have not understood why vets should be limited to such a limited range of locations for medical care, why not enable them to go to any qualified medical facility??
= = = = = = = = = = = = =
If not mistaken, one of Ronald Reagan’s goals was to open under utilized VA Hospitals in rural areas where hospitals were few and far between, to ALL on a space available basis and allowing VETS that were not close to VA facilities to use local Hospitals.

I think WE (us Vets) shut that down or at least objected.
I sort of figured no one really sat down and thought the prospect out.

I don't trust Romney despite his "fix it" resume.

Brown is a Veteran who helped veterans while serving in the Senate

I like the guy and he is a Trump loyalist.

The Democrats moved before Brown was seated. The GOPe idiot to blame for Obamacare is Olympia Snowe - her vote in committee allowed the bill to move to the Senate floor.

Good place for Scott. He’s got 35 years in military service under his belt. He would be trusted. Plus he came out very early for Trump.

On the top, I agree with you about trust, especially since he tanked when he had teddyboy beat then sat back and let BO have his second term.

If a regular RINO or GOPe were in office, I would not trust him(MR).

HOWEVER, I think D. Trump is going to be hands on enough to ride herd on his choice if they do not live up to HIS standards.

Think DT already showed it by canning all the lobbyists and career pols in the first days.

Of course the MSM says things are in disarray BUT I believe he is in complete charge and ALL had better toe the line or get that

“YOU’RE FIRED”

line.

Scott Brown endorsed Donald Trump on Groundhog Day, at a NH rally before the NH primary. He contributed to the momentum that propelled Trump to his first electoral victory.

Brown has been a rock-solid Trump supporter and is certainly qualified to fix the VA on behalf of the President.
