Deutsch: Someone ‘Very High Up’ in Trump Circle Says Prospect of Romney as SecState ‘Very Real’
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Say what you will about Donny Deutsch, but the man-about-Manhattan and the Hamptons moves in the Trump social circle and is well-connected there.

So attention must be paid to Deutsch’s declaration on today’s With All Due Respect. Asked by Mark Halperin whether the talk about Romney being considered for Secretary of State is “real, whether Romney might end up with the job,” Deutsch responded: “somebody very, very, very high up in the inner [Trump] circle yesterday told me it was very, very real,” and that this person was “very excited about it.”

Why?

What does Romney bring to the SOS table?
Outside of Utah I see no “mass legion” of disaffected Romney fan GOP voters to mollify! Face it! It wasn’t that much of a “mass”, Trump carried Utah without much effort! Maybe head off a future Egg McMuffin uprising?

Again what does Romney bring to the table to make it worth in trade for the “SOS plum”?

I don’t see it. I thought Trump valued loyalty?

Well, I suppose Donald could always use a knife in the back. At the first opportunity, Mitt will probably more than happy to put one there. As far as Mitt goes, a leopard cannot change its spots.

You’d think they’d have learned after the Christie purge that some of this “privileged information” exists only to smoke out the backstabbing disloyal agents of the Left.

For one, he was trashing Trump until election day.

For two, he was trashing Trump’s policy until election day.

Need I go on?

I am unware of any particular qualifications or reason for Gov Romney to be assigned the Sec of Snake job

indeed, it would be well if Mr Trump looks for someone much more obviously qualified for that post (and someone with the backbone and clear intent to CLEAN OUT THE NAZItypes from that Cesspool!!!)

maybe Romney could be put in charge of returning exported manufacturing jobs to USA?

I’m starting to wonder if the Romney opposition was a ruse to cement Trump’s outsider status, and now Trump is paying him back for playing the part so well. Hmmm...

You could be right.

On the other hand, Trump seems to have one of the best instincts for hiring and getting the most out of people that has been seen in the last 40 years.

What experience does Romney have as a diplomat?

I'm serious. Only Condi Rice was in the sense, a true Secretary of State. She had the pedigree and the experience. John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Madeline Albright, even James Baker III didn't.

This meeting is simply to mend fences. Maybe Romney will work with Trump in some other capacity, such as spearheading Trump's goal to create jobs in the inner-cities. I don't see him as Sec. of State, sorry.

Romney is an honourable man. He would make a fine secretary of state.

At the very least, he wouldn’t lose 6 billion dollars.

You must be kidding me. His behavior in this election cycle is despicable and shows no character. When he ran for President he was a wimp and unable to hold his own in debates.

A person who doesn’t use alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, or other drugs. Can also be used to refer to somebody who doesn’t party, cuss, stay out late, or engage in other risky activities.
That dude is such a straight arrow; all he does is drink water and read the Bible.

What part of that is applicable to being Secretary of State

I hope not as Secretary of State. Please not. There are other positions if he feels the need for whatever reason to include Romney.

I understand that. I trust Donald. I just do not trust Mitt, or any other Republican Party insider.

I’d be devastated.

Well, for Pete's sake, why?

Because you don't like him? Because he's Mormon?

Because you didn't think he'd make a good President?

Those aren't reasons to exclude him from Secretary of State. Think a little bit instead of emoting like a liberal.

Yeah, the bi-sexual Donny, who doesn’t wear socks a la Jerry Lewis and has a bad taste apartment that makes Trump’s place look like Mount Vernon, really is in the know. Yes, I definitely believe that. When was the last time Trump was in the Hamptons? He owns a house in Westchester!
