Trump Found a Way to Make Manhattan Even Worse

Midtown Manhattan—with its noise, traffic, slow-moving tourists, and overpriced everything—is the one place most New Yorkers avoid at all costs (if they can help it.) It’s also home to Trump Tower, a gargantuan gold-plated phallus jabbed straight into the city skyline where the President-elect is planning on spending weekends during his term in office.

In a neighborhood as densely populated as Midtown, the necessary job of keeping Trump safe will lead to unprecedented hassles for those living and working in New York, a city which already earns its stripes as having the country’s worst workday commute. The Washington Post reports today just how bad things are going to get.

For starters, the no-fly zone the FAA declared over Trump Tower is likely to stay in place for the next four years. That will also be extended to a ground perimeter in a “five- to 10-block radius” around Trump Tower, further miring traffic and restricting pedestrian access—and diminishing patronage to local businesses in the area. The New York Times reports that limitations on civilian access to Trump Tower has already started.

Sitting presidents tend to select remote “getaway” locations that are easier to secure specifically to create as little disruption to civilian lives as feasible. Trump seemingly gave the people of his native city no such consideration. ....

...Somebody find me all the stories this guy wrote about Obama snarling traffic in dozens of cities over the last eight years...

Once again and always. The rules are ALWAYS different for Democrats. Isn’t that obvious by now??

Find me something intelligent he has written. I sure can’t find anything. I tweeted to him he shouldn’t have voted for Trump. That should boil his blood a bit.

Remember that time BJ got a haircut from Christophe while sitting in Air Force One parked on the runway at LAX?

Of course the libtards were absolutely silent during the last 8 years of Obastard, and the DOZENS of fundraising trips he made here to SoCal resulting in massive gridlock of the freeways and surface streets he traveled....lots of times during peak traffic hours which inflicted maximum inconvenience to the residents here.

Who cares? Did this punk complain every time Obama’s motorcade tied up the city for hours? I doubt it. Get bent, loser.

Yeah, and when bammy traveled the lefties never complained about the effect on traffic. You can be sure they will use any excuse at all to trash Trump.

For starters, the no-fly zone the FAA declared over Trump Tower is likely to stay in place for the next four years.

Almost no flights fly over midtown Manhattan. You cannot fly VFR over Manhattan, so an Air Traffic Controller has to route you over Manhattan and it just about never happens. I don't fly anymore but I only remember one time where I asked for a route over Manhattan and got it coming back from Long Island. (It is possible that I have been routed over Manhattan while in the clouds and just didn't know it. The IFR departure from Caldwell to the east and north did go over LaGuardia but when I've flown it I never looked to see how I got there.)

Maybe Trump will dispose of the 25 car motorcade and just show up quietly.

Rat Race, one of the funniest movies ever made.

The premise is similar to It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The difference is Rat Race is funny.

I'm sure that if Trump knew he was one day going to be president he would have built the tower somewhere else, like in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

Don’t know how I could have forgotten about that. One of the guys I worked with at the time was sitting in an airplane at that time and they were not allowed to take off. He was really, really po’d. Thanks for reminding me. I’ll have to send him an email and remind him - he was pretty liberal at the time so I thought it served him right.

Doubt if any of the current members of the drive by media were even in pull-ups then and, of course, they’re certainly not going to do any research into any democrats or libs interrupting the life of normal people.

Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded.

That's dribble. I know plenty of New Yorkers, and they use the whole city as needed. I used to semi-regularly go to St. Agnes just across the street from Penn Station. Mid-town is a popular meet-up area for people from different spots meeting. It's safe at night, and not everything is expensive if you know your way around (I don't particularly, but the people I knew did).

I am hearing that this is true. If he sticks to it, this is going to be a huge security hassle.

Compare that to the evil Clintons and the ridiculous Obamas!

The Clinton's never owned a house before Chappaqua and the tax payer is paying for that one.

Thanks. I’m there almost every day. Many of the best people here voted for him.

I’ll be very upset if Donald makes the decision to come into Manhattan every weekend as President. Manhattan is very unsecure for a helicopter landing and it inconveniences half the city when a President visits.

Not only is the perimeter around his building shut down but every time he comes and goes they’ll have a motorcade that closes the entire East Side.

I would give Obama the finger every time he drove by me as I was stopped in his traffic. For some fund raisers. Now Trump wants to do this to us twice a week for no good reason. Insanity
