Three Ways Trump, GOP May Cut Social Security, Medicare
Forbes ^ | November 16th | John Wasik

“We’re not going to hurt the people who have been paying into Social Security their whole life,” Trump declared, calling the payment of promised benefits “honoring a deal.”

But the man heading the Trump transition team’s Social Security effort? Michael Korbey, a former lobbyist who has spent much of his career advocating for cutting and privatizing the program, according to Yahoo News.

“It’s a failed system, broken and bankrupt,” Korbey said as a lobbyist in the mid 1990s. Korbey acknowledged that some of the reforms his group backed would hurt retirees, but “our constituents aren’t just senior citizens,” he told a newspaper in 1996. A decade later, as a senior adviser to the Social Security Administration, Korbey was a public advocate for the George W. Bush administration’s failed attempt to privatize Social Security.

LOL. They are really trying to torpedo his transition. Why don’t they entitle the article “Three Ways that Trump, GOP May Starve Children and the Elderly”

Trump ain’t gonna piss all over the third rail of entitlements. Any smart republican knows that entitlement reform must originate from the dems. Even if the system burns down it must originate from the dems.

Where were these people when Obamacare made massive cuts to Medicare in order to make massive expansions to Medicaid.

In lieu of “pretend” news, I’ll wait for a tweet from Trump.

I thought I’d read that Pence was ejecting every lobbyist from the transition team. And reading further into the article, I find that Ryan advocates means testing for those on Social Security and Medicare. So I guess that those of us who saved for our retirements will be punished for saving? Drain the swamp! It isn’t right that those who have planned ahead should be punished, in favor of those who didn’t prepare!

If he does, I hope he does so quickly. Maybe the folks who paid into this scheme for 50 years, like I did, can get a few more years of earned benefits before it goes bankrupt.

I think Medicare costs are going to 114.00 a month. Would making it 200.00 a month save it?

Forbes?

Steve Forbes supported Trump. Why would they try to disrupt the transition?

It’s no secret Paul Ryan dreams of cutting social security. Look what he did to vets a few years back.

All I’m hearing now is people crying over losing their healthcare coverage when Trump dismantles it.

I’ve told them if Obamacare keeps going, that’s exactly what will happen.

Then I tell them to stop listening to the lying media.

Social Security would be fine today if the dirty politicians had not raided the trust fund for the last 30yrs to pay for their out of control spending binges.
