Commentary: First on Trump to-do list is pardon for Clinton
Philly.com ^ | 11/16/2016 | Jeremy Rabkin and John Yoo

Donald Trump's election has raised deep concerns, even among his supporters, that he may misuse the vast powers of the presidency. We believe that he can take early steps now, even before he takes office, to signal that he will use executive power to unify the country, despite a campaign that emphasized differences within the Republican Party and among American voters generally.

Trump should look for policy initiatives where he can appeal to both Republicans and Democrats. He will need Congress' support for tax cuts, regulatory reform, and a rejuvenated military. We believe he can make three commitments, well within the president's constitutional authorities, to show that he will use the office in the public interest and to respect democracy, rather than lean toward authoritarianism.

First: The president-elect should promise a pardon, on day one, for Hillary Clinton. Article II of the Constitution places no limit on the president's power to "grant reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States," except for impeachment. Many Americans believe Clinton was guilty of conduct that would trigger prosecution of a lesser figure. But an actual prosecution would create the terrible appearance of pursuing his political opponents with criminal law. A prosecution would divert attention from all other Trump initiatives and discourage any compromise and cooperation from Democrats.

Saving the country from bitter turmoil is one of the reasons why the president has a pardon power. [snip] It would signal that Clinton violated the law with her private email server and mishandling of classified information. Nor would a pardon bar the Justice Department from fully investigating any corruption involving the Clinton Foundation. A pardon would show that a President-elect Trump can win with grace, put the nastiness of the campaign behind us all, and focus our energies on the future.

I don’t see it. The military/intel community wants blood here on her and others.

Investigate. Prosecute. Convict.

And if she apologizes after all of that, only then should a pardon be considered.

Nope. We need rule of law. We need Trump to say that he is not just another loyal member of the oligarchy. We need him to say that the elite live by the same rules as you and me. He needs to, at the very least, let the congress dogs hound her and let the chips fall where they may.

It still amazes me how the losers think that they dictate the terms of the victory.

The only way that Obama will ever even consider pardoning Hillary is if he believes that HIS historic reputation is at stake. Since most historians are left wing and in the bag for Obama, Hillary will need to have some serious blackmail material.

Whatever the result is for the private server fiasco, the investigation of the Clinton Crime Foundation needs to continue.

Much as I would like to see Hillary behind bars where she belongs I think Trump will probably pardon her, and he should at some point.

As much as I would enjoy the spectacle of a prosecution, I would accept a plea deal where she cops to a long list of charges and spends 30 days in the clink. The deal would have to require full cooperation with prosecutors and 30 days behind bars. Same deal for Bill.

Even more important, a special prosecutor would be like a scythe cutting through the democratic party. Influence peddling, voter fraud, illegal PAC/campaign coordination, the pursuing people involved will devastate the democratic party.

I want blood too. The question is this: would satisfying our bloodlust outweigh the harm a prosecution would cause? This is just one of those things that I'm glad President Trump has to decide and not me.

At the risk of losing a presidential election, Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon to save the country from a long nightmare. He lost the election in part because of the pardon.

The only pardon for Hillary is life imprisonment instead of a firing squad for treason.

The president-elect should promise a pardon, on day one, for Hillary Clinton.

Nonsense. He should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Clinton Crime Clan in all particulars.

I think she and the Clinton Foundation need to be investigated fully in the manner of anyone else suspected of a crime. If found guilty, prosecute to the full extent of the law. If innocent, she’s free. Side-stepping the law would be absolutely the worst thing Trump could do.

Why does she need a pardon when no jury would convict?

The unfairness, the two tiered system that has developed in our society since the globalists have taken power is the central cause of this uprising of Trump and those that support him.

No more bailouts of big corporations and industries that are “too big to fail” and no more of this “Justice for thee but not for me” that Hillaryand those like her have gotten used to!
