Bloomberg Reporter: Ted Cruz Under Consideration for Attorney General

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is under consideration for attorney general in Donald Trump's administration, a Bloomberg News reporter tweeted Tuesday night.

SCOOP: Trump is discussing TED CRUZ for AG — Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) November 16, 2016

Cruz was seen earlier in the day visiting Trump Tower in Manhattan, where Trump's transition team is talking about Cabinet level positions.

Trump himself tweeted about 30 minutes after Jacobs announced her "scoop," saying he alone knows who will get job offers.

Very organized process taking place as I decide on Cabinet and many other positions. I am the only one who knows who the finalists are! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 16, 2016

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Trump supporter after dropping out of the race, said a Cruz hire would be "a big shock for me," considering the acrimony between Trump and Cruz during the GOP nomination process.

"We all ran together, but there was never a group hug that involved Ted Cruz," Huckabee said on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File."

"I would be very surprised if that was the case," he said, but admitted, "This election has been made of surprises."

Cruz is not well-liked by his Senate colleagues on either side of the aisle, so if he is nominated, he might get 100 percent confirmation support, Huckabee said, "because he wouldn't be in the Senate, and they haven't been that happy with him being there."

An appointment to the SC to replace Scalia, would be interesting, but won’t happen.

The Establishment Republicans, including Ted Cruz, will try to take Trump down at some point. ...
*******************************************
Total BS! The GOP-e are anti-Cruz and would like to see him out of the Senate, because he doesn’t go along with their corruption/deal-making.

Let Cruz serve four years as AG and prove himself and then put him up for SCOTUS. He can do it.

AG? No. I’m not liking that idea.

Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is under consideration for attorney general >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Big Mistake. Cruz is not loyal enough to Trump.

Put him on SCOTUS.

Ted Cruz is a good pick for AG. And I say that as someone who is not a particular fan of the senator to put it mildly. This is realpolitik in action. Some things to consider:

- whomever is selected for this is going to end up being a lightning rod. There are a whole lot of politically entrenched folks who desperately need prosecuting. One thing about lightning rods is they tend to get scorched. E.g. John Ashcroft.

- The AG, given his or her historical role here in prosecuting folks who would be political opponents needs to have the aura of independence. We don’t need someone who could be reasonably perceived as a Trump lackey. Ted Cruz would have that aura of independence.

- We forget that the AG also has police agencies working for him or her. E.g. BATFE. We don’t need another Fast and Furious. Thus I think a pro gun conservative is needed in the role. That would exclude Rudy Giuliani.

-Imagine a DoJ Civil Rights division that goes after states for denying citizens their right to keep and bear arms.

- This neatly clears up a looming political issue in Texas. I.e. Ted Cruz’ re-election. That’s going to be a knock down, drag out primary and we could lose the seat as a result. Better Cruz leave the senate and Greg Abbot appoint his replacement. Probably with Rick Perry.

Yes, and that primary fight would possibly hand the seat to the rats as a result. Better to have Cruz replaced before that even becomes an issue.

That’s my worry—that I don’t trust him.

I get it that Rudy somehow wants to become Secretary of State, but he belongs in Attorney General role, doing the hard work of cleaning out the Justice Department, FBI, intelligence, political corruption at the IRS, etc.

Trump being something of a newbie in at the presidential level doesn’t really need someone with no experience in as Secretary of State.

Keep your friends close, your enemies closer. Keep in mind the AG serves at the pleasure of the President. Pres. Trump could end up firing him.

Yes. As more folks think about this they’ll come to realize that Cruz, if picked, will be an inspired choice.

Don’t kid yourself about Cruz really being so tough on illegal immigration.

Cruz has a hyperpolitical (Hillary style) CFR wife and is himself a Bush asset. I fear for the Trump team, led by liberal Ivanka’s husband Jared, on this “the Clinton’s are good people” who we owe “gratitude” for their “national service” rush to patch everything up with the DC Establishment.

Comey is toast. Trump will fire him if Obama doesn’t get to him first.

They have been trying to take Trump down since he announced his candidacy. They failed miserably. They will continue to fail....even more miserably.

I can see it now. First sign of trouble AG Cruz would call a national press conference and announce that he naming a Special Prosecutor to look into something or another the press thinks Trump did. All the while with that sh!tty smirk on his face.

Totally agree, plus there was a lot of smoke regarding possible affairs he may be covering up, i.e. Amanda Carpenter. If true, he could be compromised by enemies of Trump in possession of info Ted wants hidden.
