SCOOP: Trump is discussing TED CRUZ for AG
You don’t know if Ted Cruz loves the Constitution? Who are we supposed to look to who talks more about the Constitution than Cruz? Boehner? McConnell? Cantor? Ryan? Romney? McCain? Graham?
The founders were not going to write an extremely complex text just to define what a citizen is. You do realize any law that was written to exclude any such rare and bizarre cases would need to be extremely wordy and awkward? Such laborious text would turn the Constitution into a comical document...or one about as long as Obamacare. I’m sure the founders didn’t want a child molester to become President either. But I don’t see any text in there excluding it.
Cruz was my choice. “flame away”
BUT we need him in congress.
And yes. Ted lost. I didn’t burn any cars. That being said. Go Trump go!!! Whoo hoo.
And, remember, Obama would not have been a natural-born citizen if he was born outside the U.S. because the law at the time had residency requirements his mom didn’t meet.
The law said:
When one parent was a U.S. citizen and the other a foreign national, the U.S. citizen parent must have resided in the U.S. for a total of 10 years prior to birth of the child with FIVE of the years after the age of 14.
That law changed in 1986. Because the specifics of what constitutes citizenship are determined by lawmakers, not by the Constitution.
Well from my understanding , according to my recollection from grade school civics class, it requires two citizen parents on American soil. As for only one parent, you get into dual citizenship/ loyalties. As it relates to Cruz, he has records, show them, don’t seal them. Why would anybody do that? That’s what I don’t understand, should I seal my birth records? Are your birth records sealed? Nobody finds this a little strange?
>>>And, remember, Obama would not have been a natural-born citizen if he was born outside the U.S. because the law at the time had residency requirements his mom didnt meet.
Yes, I do remember. It was key to the controversy.
>>>Because the specifics of what constitutes citizenship are determined by lawmakers, not by the Constitution.
Yes. In this context we are talking about those born outside the U.S. Congress determines whether these persons are “born citizens” or require naturalization to become “naturalized citizens.” It is the law at the time of birth that applies.
thanks for your reply.
Relax folks Trump knows what he is doing, he is 20 steps ahead of everybody.
Let Cruz stay in the Senate and work to be part of the team to undo Obama and Bush.
Oh Canada!
It’s no wonder it took Ted nearly 1-1/2 years to clear up his Canadian citizenship once the Dallas Post called him out on this after they discovered they had a Canadian-Texan Senator. This was no routine revocation of citizenship. He had his records and his parent’s records sealed. It was Breitbart News that interviewed Ted’s staff when Ted became ‘unavailable’ for comment with a straight answer. And DJT has exactly what Steve Bannon and The NE knows about the Cruzs.
From an earlier comment: It doesnt matter whether Eleanor or Rafael Cruz voted during the period that they were Canadian citizens.
They were on the rolls because the Provincial Elections Supervisor of Alberta, Canada approved their placement on the voting roll as Canadian citizens. Eleanor and Rafaels names were printed in the Calgary newspaper and publicly posted 60 days prior to each election.
They were interviewed at their home in Calgary, declared their Canadian citizenship, presented ID, confirmed their permanent address and respective occupation / status. After this interview process, the information was verified at the Provincial Elections Office. Eleanor and Rafael Cruz were placed on the voting rolls which consisted of 100% Canadian citizens eligible to vote (over age 18.)
One who is born in Canada to Canadian citizens (a Cuban-expat and an American expat) is a 100% natural born Canadian citizen.
Ted is once.....twice.......three times a Canadian.
There are thousands of people born around the world to an American mother or father and they will never be natural born citizens. Most will never apply for U.S. citizenship. Ted holds a Canadian birth certificate and it is not amendable to a USA certification.
And Rafael Cruz’s “story” of how he came from Cuba—>Miami-—>Texas-—>New Orleans-—>Texas-—> Europe-—>Canada-—>Texas leads to lots of questions which all come back to the circle of BUSH.
I am still amazed that after all this time and innumerable words typed, that people are STILL confused between “citizen” and “natural born citizen”.
No law passed by congress can make you a “natural born citizen”.
Your status as a “natural born citizen” was determined at the moment of your birth by your physical location and the citizenship of BOTH of your parents. (at that moment)
You must be born on United States soil, and BOTH of you parents had to be United States citizens (naturalized or native) at the moment of your birth.
If you were born in the lower 48 states by two citizen parents (naturalized or native), you are without question a “natural born citizen”.
If you were born on U.S. soil of Alaska, Hawaii, or other territories or possessions, it may depend on WHEN you were born there and the laws of those states or possessions or territories at the time of your birth.
A potential president could still have been born in Alaska or Hawaii before they became states. Different laws, at that time, might affect citizenship for individuals and parents as in the example of Obama’s mother.
Various territories and possessions have various laws in various years so that research would have to be done before a person could claim citizenship let alone natural born citizenship.
In Puerto Rico it depends what year you were born. Before or after a certain law was enacted. (don’t remember the exact details.)
On at least one island possession it depends on which half of the island you were born on.
U.S. soil is not Panama, Canada, Kenya, a ship on the ocean, a foreign embassy in a foreign country.
By the citizenship of one or both of your parents you can still be a N A T I V E born citizen (a citizen at birth), not requiring naturalization. But you could NOT be a natural born citizen eligible to the office of president or vice president.
I'm with you. SCOTUS is the place for Cruz.
The fishing boats go out across the evening water
Smuggling arms and guns across the Spanish border
The wind whips up the waves so loud
The ghost moon sails above the clouds
And turns the rifles into silver on the border
Go and tell Lord Grenville that the tide is on the turn
If only I had known that Ted Cruz' father had personally assassinated John F. Kennedy and Mark Levin was a closet Rino.
LOL! Bloomburg putting out early feelers to se what our reaction is so they can meddle....
Al Stewart’s best song!
My wife had the system in the car set to 'AM', so when I turned it on last night, Levin's rantings came spewing out. I can't believe anyone could listen to that for 30 seconds, much less three hours. Had to freshen the interior with the soundtrack from 'The Crow'...Brandon Lee>Mark Levin.
The Goldman Sachs appointee?
Paul Ryan's buddy in Wisconsin?
His insights into the process of transition, the qualities needed in the individuals who will fill these posts, the tactics of Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, the tactics of Chucky Schumer and much more are all laid out by Levin and they are informed by his vast experience.
Maybe it’s a plan to get Cruz to be Senate majority leader?
Not SCOTUS. Too squishy. Too easily manipulated. Has history of doing the wrong thing and then making excuses for it. Last thing we need is someone as weak as John Roberts. Any blackmail fodder in his history? Probably.
