Children win right to sue US government on actions causing climate change
Tree Hugger ^ | 14 Nov 2016 | Kimberley Mok

Last week, a group of 21 young people, aged 9 to 20 years, won the right to sue the US government for its inaction in mitigating climate change, when an Oregon federal judge ruled that the plaintiffs' lawsuit was valid and could proceed in court.

The chief legal counsel for the plantiffs, Julia Olson, had this to say about the significance of the ruling, urging outgoing President Obama to come to an agreement with a binding court order before Trump's inauguration early next year:

We have a President-elect who is an obvious climate denier and both political branches controlled by a party rampant with climate denialism. It makes the job of the court that much more important in our constitutional democracy.

I can't account for the nutty publication, but it seemed like as good a source as any for the storyline from the mouths of the ridiculous, extremist nuts.

Not to worry. It was also on Slate.com yesterday. Bizarre what can get through a judge these days.

Trump can withdraw the filing and let them fight it out in court. The Plaintiff’s are trying to avoid court costs. The govt has lawyers by the truckload. So let the govt lawyers suck down the $$ from the climateTards.

Yes, a judge did rule that the suit can proceed. But that’s hardly “winning a right”. The ruling will certainly be appealed, all the way to the USSC if necessary. A Supreme Court with the 9th justice chosen by Trump.

If the govt (aka Trump) picks the right folks the discovery process could get very interesting when they get down to actual details...:^)

So what counts as government action? Planting a large number of grass and trees all over national parks?

corpus delicti

You have to prove that an actual crime has been committed. I would think that this would be a challenge, but maybe they don’t care.

In the old days, kids who wanted to be of service cleaned up their local parks, or visited their grandparents and helped them with their yard work, or sold candy to support their local teams or some other local charity. Now, they act as front men and stooges for the enviro-plaintiff’s lobby to get some PR in using the courts to impose Enviro-Socialism by fiat.

Sue them for creating world hunger by reducing crops when the CO2 levels drop.

It turns out those 21 cute little children were mass murderers.. buahahahah

The kiddies will need to prove that climate change is caused by people and it can be stopped. It will also have to prove that it’s being changed for the worse and demonstrate what the ideal climate target would be.

What a can of worms. The left thinks it is ok to sue the US Government on policy?

So anyone can tie up the US Government if they disagree with the policy?

You are talking about every US Government policy. Talk about gridlock.
