FULL TITLE: Donald Trump Refuses Huge Salary, Will Make $1 as President. Won’t Take Frequent Vacations Like Obama

Donald Trump will be the third president in U.S. history to not accept a salary.

In an interview with “60 Minutes” on Sunday, the billionaire seemed to have no idea how much he would make as president, and when interviewer Lesley Stahl informed him it was $400,000, he said he’d pass.

“No, I’m not going to take the salary. I’m not taking it,” he said. “I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year.”

John F. Kennedy gave his congressional and presidential salaries to charity, as did Herbert Hoover, who also gave some to augment the incomes of his members of staff.

Trump also pledged to pass on frequent vacations.

“There’s just so much to be done,” he said. “So I don’t think we’ll be very big on vacations, no.”

Heh. One can easily believe that the reason that Dorkbama the Muslim eunuch hid his college grades is that the only course he passed was golf.

Not Yuge, not in this context.

400K is peanuts in comparison with Trump’s wealth, or even in comparison with the perqs of the office. Obama lived better than any billionaire for 8 years.

Even if Hillary had won, it’s a gesture she could have made, greedy as she is, because 400k is peanuts in comparison to the amounts she would have raked in selling influence. Hell, she and Bill charged that much for a single speech.

Where is the MSM on this fact? Except for it happening on the 60 Minutes - CBS program - I haven’t seen any MSM’s reporting on this tremendously generous Trump factoid.

The Lamestream media misses the truth - again.

I’m sure Hillary would have donated hers to the Clinton Foundation.

Every time Trump works from home it will be called a vacation. When the progs compare Obama to Bush, every time Bush worked from the ranch or Camp David it counted as vacation time so that it looked like Barry took less time off.

“Where is the MSM on this fact?”

They are too busy bashing the Bannon appointment. And they are thinking about a way to spin Trump’s salary refusal to the libs benefit. I give it about two days before some lame narrative is out.

You mean reports of Trump’s evil ‘tax avoidance’ scheme? He’s using a ‘loophole’ to avoid paying income taxes on that 400k! /spin

Trump is setting a new tone in Washington DC...

It’s a tone that those who serve are public servants... not corrupt masters. Trump’s going to throw the money changers out of the temple... toss those who think selling access and secrets is a way to feather their own nests.

Trump knows those people are criminals.

People who sell company secrets are fired or charged with theft... it’s going to be the same way in Washington DC from here on out. If the corrupt one’s are smart they’ll retire... and soon.

I think we are going to see someone work as hard as Carter, and as smart as Reagan. The Bush years will be a drab and confused footnote before the first term is over.

“400K is peanuts in comparison with Trump’s wealth”

Agree, but IMO it’s really not about that. To me it shows people even though he could, he won’t. An idea that is very foreign to many these days..........And a breath of fresh air as far as I’m concerned.

It would have also been cool if he accepted the salary but donated all but a dollar to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
