The answer is no,” he said, when asked about his campaign trail promise by CBS interviewer Lesley Stahl. “I think I have to take by law one dollar so I’ll take one dollar a year.”

He admitted that he didn’t even know what the salary was, but when he was told it was $400,000 salary he declined it.

“I’m not taking it,” he said.

He added that he would not be taking too many vacations either.

“There’s so much work to be done and I want to get it done for the people,” he said. “I want to get it done. We’re lowering taxes, we’re taking care of health care.”

Trump signaled that he wanted to bring the people together, urging both the protesters and his supporters to stop abusing each other.

Stahl pointed to the recent violence around the country after the election

“I am so saddened to hear that. And I say, ‘Stop it,” he said. “If it helps. I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: Stop it.”

He suggested that many of the protesters were “professional” and that his supporters would have been excoriated by the media if they refused to accept the election results.

Yes he did.

In a sane world, this would be THE top news story of the day. I doubt we will hear a peep about it from the MSM.

What a President!

You know what is really funny...

Everything so far he is talking about is exactly what those crazy people in the streets actually want.

So I don’t understand what they are rioting about and what their insurrection is about?

Also said he had a lot to do and wouldn’t be taking a lot of vacations.

A week or two in the summer and maybe a week in the winter is fine,IMO.Most weekends at Camp David is also fine.Spending 90% of of his waking hours on the golf course (like Obola) wouldn't be fine.

I was surprised Leslie Stahl wasn’t praising Trump for no vacations or even a salary as it is a stark contrast from obama who is currently on the 9th hole golfing the rest is his presidency.

Occurs to me:
Having written _Alas_Shrugged_, what would Ayn Rand think of a hyper-productive CEO being elected President over a “looter”? We’d nearly matched the first third of the book perfectly (just short of the refinery fire), when the people choose a government of productivity over redistribution.

Had some friends talking about how Trump will be “so corrupt” as President. I said, “Trump is going into the White House rich. The Clintons came out rich. Can you not understand the difference?”

Crickets.

This is a brilliant move. I suggest he ask for it in cash with documentation. He could then auction all 4 of them off for a charity of his choice.

Mr. Trump, there is a man still in the White House who is moving to stop your administration from disrupting his historic blunder, Obamacare.

I am sure you are going to show the nation how much this BIG step towards socialized medicine has cost the taxpayers thus far....it is in the billions?...just to get this overwhelming, fraught with despotic cronyism off the taxpayer backs. (Piggy-backing of health care) must be removed....it will be cheaper to start with a totally fresh page.....Obama care is just too unwieldy, muddy, and costly.

Trump Victory Proves that Money Does Not Buy Elections
The Center for Competitive Politics studied political spending in the 2016 election cycle, concluding that the data demonstrates strongly — yet again — that spending money does not buy electoral victory:

“The idea that money buys elections was disproven again last night by Donald Trump,” said CCP President David Keating. “Trump and his allies were outspent by huge margins. Money allows candidates and groups to speak. Voters decide based on their beliefs. It’s time to put aside the discredited idea that money buys votes. Instead, we should focus on expanding First Amendment freedoms for all Americans.”

Some political spending facts from CCP about last night’s election:

Clinton outspent Trump more than 2 to 1.

Pro-Clinton ads outnumbered pro-Trump ads 3 to 1.

Independent groups supporting Clinton outspent independent groups supporting Trump 3 to 1.

In the top states in terms of ads run (FL, OH, NC, PA, NV, IA), Clinton supporters ran over 3 times more ads. She lost 5 of these 6 states.

The three biggest super PAC spenders supporting Presidential candidates (Clinton, Bush, and Rubio) spent $275 million on losing efforts – nearly 1/4 of all super PAC spending.

CCP analyzed the data (more detail on CCP’s website) and concluded:

Taken together, what do these facts mean? The lesson is clear: political spending is an avenue for speech – it is necessary to buy political ads, to get a candidate’s message out, and pay for the numerous costs of a campaign, among other things. But despite many claims to the contrary, elections are not “bought” by millionaires and billionaires – they are decided by voters who either buy a candidate’s message or do not.

In the coming weeks and months, there will be many lessons to take away from Trump’s upset victory, but one should surely be that, despite many claims by advocates of greater speech regulation, wealthy individuals and the so-called “special interests” do not and cannot use money to decide the outcomes of elections.

For all of the liberal handwringing over individuals, corporations, PACs, and organizations exercising their First Amendment right to spend money to communicate a political message, the voters can, and do, make decisions without falling victim to the “corruption” of political spending. That is why the First Amendment exists—to protect the people against government officials who would like to decide what they hear and say.

For guys like Trump, work IS vacation, and should he ever actually be FORCED to take a “vacation”, he’d be bored out of his mind. If you love what you are doing every waking moment of your life, then why would you do anything different?

.
And you can just bet; when they DO take a vacation, Donald will pay for it out of his own pocket- not take multiple vacations costing the taxpayers thousands upon thousands as Obama, Michelle and the two girls did.
