‘Depressed’ Robert De Niro: Donald Trump's Election Makes Me ‘Feel Like I Did After 9/11’

Actor Robert De Niro said Friday that president-elect Donald Trump’s victory made him “feel like I did after 9/11,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Now the Academy Award winner says he supports the anti-Trump protests springing up across the country.

“Yes, absolutely,” De Niro told Agence France-Presse on Friday when asked if he is in favor of the anti-Trump protests being organized in cities from New York to Oregon. “Things aren’t being done right.”

Anti-Trump protests have taken to the streets, chanting, “Not my president,” every night since Trump’s election.

Asked how he feels after Trump historic victory over Hillary Clinton, De Niro said “How am I doing? I’m very depressed.”

De Niro had been a Clinton supporter throughout the campaign. He co-starred in a celebrity get out the vote video urging Americans to voter for the former Democratic nominee.

De Niro, in a monologue posted online last month, called Trump “an embarrassment” to the United States and said he would like to “punch him in the face.”

Just days before Trump’s unprecedented win, De Niro urged the audience at the 20th annual Hollywood Film Awards to “vote for Hillary Tuesday” to avoid an Election Day “tragedy.”

De Niro says Americans must remain “vigilant” under Trump.

“We have to just wait and see how things go and keep our eyes ever vigilant on the new government,” De Niro said Friday.

So your not getting a criminal into the White House makes you feel the same as when 3000 of your country men died in a sneak attack.

Get therapy.

Mr De Niro feels much the same for the death of thousands of his fellow citizens in an Islamic Terrorist attack as he does for the peaceable process of electing a President he dislikes. Such wonderful and measured intelligence being applied here. Might I suggest that you engage your brain before speaking next time, Mr De Niro?

"Election Makes Me ‘Feel Like I Did After 9/11’"

After 9/11, most people in the U.S. strongly felt like Americans/Republicans.

Even Democrats were patriotic.

Impressionist Max Koch did a great short video in which he plays the roles of Tony Soprano, Jack Nicholson and Robert DeNiro.

The real DeNiro makes me think that the impersonation in this video was right on the money in terms of DeNiro's brain power.

Tony Soprano Meets Jack & Bobby

[Obviously, given the characters involved, the language is NSFW].

For like two weeks, if I recall correctly. After that, not so much.

They are the reason why. The Hollyweird crowd has NO understanding of what is going on in the heartland of America...and it isn’t like they have to go very far to experience it (even 2 or 3 hours from Los Angeles). I bet you that they spend virtually no time in rural or small town America other than for movie filming in closed off areas isolated from us.

I’ll admit it, I would have been depressed had Hillary won. I would have complained to like-minded people. I tried to find some solace by listening to Dennis Prager telling people not to despair. I even posted a thread after the election trying to give comfort to myself and others by sharing what he said. If Hillary would have won, I would have done like I did after Barry won twice...I would have gotten on with it. I didn’t protest. I didn’t cry. I didn’t play with play-doh. (But I do love the smell of play-doh.) My world didn’t come to an end even though I was acutely aware both times that BO would do great harm to this country. And I certainly didn’t feel like I did after 9/11. That was a horrific event where 3,000 people were murdered. Shame on Mr. Deniro for suggesting that they even compare in his mind.

Poor, Old Bob seems to be slipping into Alsheimers. Pity.
Must be unsettling to slip into "HasBeenism".

H.R. Clintoonie reminded him so much of Al Capone. I can see why he is depressed. Tape a diaper pin to your jacket Bobby. You’ll get over it.
