Hey Bert - you would have to be beyond stupid to try to build a fence in a river.

On or back a bit from the riverbank - that’s another story. (Shrug) I’m not trying to be an Engineer, but it is plenty doable.

In one of my fiction books I refer to The Trench. In that story, the US just digs a huge trench on the border.
Then, anything trying to cross gets shot.
Ya, a pretty lousy fiction world, eh?

A lot of the land is federally owned.

There is very little federally owned land in Texas outside of national parks, and that's where easily half the distance of the wall will be. Arizona and New Mexico are different matters, but much of the land along the border is still owned by private individuals. Arizona has a big Indian reservation along about 100 miles of the border and New Mexico has a smaller one along their's; the government will have to pay for that land. Long and short of it is that land acquisition costs are going to be a big part of building the wall.

Billions have been appropriated already.

Gohmert referred to funds for a virtual fence. I don't want no virtual fence. I want concrete.

My guess is that landmines are out of the question, right?

What around electricity - high voltage within the wall?

We need a prison type wall.

I knew I was missing some things. There are probably plenty more besides the obvious ones. All plusses with few, if any, minuses.

so, you are for ceding Mexico American territory. The border is the center of the river

No trench is necessary. just a bright line on the existing fences and
a tower with riflemen every quarter mile or so

Trump has said the wall, which will be at least 35 to 50 feet high and made of pre-cast concrete, would cost anywhere from $8 billion to $12 billion.

The real cost will be in manning and patrolling the wall - an unmanned wall is not much better than no wall at all.

Building the wall is just a necessary first step.

California will remain a cancer on the country until the millions of illegals already here are returned home from their extended vacations in the United States.

The huge economic burden that they put on California taxpayers will remain as long as they do, the pressure to give them amnesty will still be here, they will continue to vote illegally, and California’s 55 electoral votes will belong permanently to the Left.

Charge for tagging the Wall with graffiti and the wall will be paid for in no time.

a blank wall is irresistible to vatos

Heck, let Mexico build it. then it will cost 1 Billion.

Seriously, we will get some of the wall but we can build a virtual wall just by cracking down on illegal immigration, cutting out immigrant welfare, and killing birth right citizenship.

Bush was terrible on immigration. He didn’t want a secure border.

All by design. W was a globalist then as he is now. Mexico was his best buddy for lots of reasons......

For the criminal illegals, we could do some punkin' chuckin' over the wall with a big ol' trebuchet...
