that’s what I was thinking, subtract the illegals, the dead,
add in ALL absentee ballots of every state.
That still does not address anyone who happen to vote twice (like people registered in two states or people going to various polling places/maybe paid to vote multiple times)
So for example, I can see in my precinct, went big for Trump in election day voting, but the absentees went slightly for Clinton, which is no surprise, because at least here, the Ds really encourage early voting.
As an aside, I vote on a touch screen, but it actually prints a paper ballot with who you voted for, and that is what you place in the ballot box.
One more time.
Hillary won the 2008 Dem Nomination popular vote of the primaries, taking Cali, Florida, and NY, but they gave the nomination to Obama.
Did these folks refuse to vote for him in protest?
According to a study in California, 13% of votes were made by illegals. That means there were over 715,000 illegal votes for Hilary just in California. And Trump would have more popular votes by at least 400,000.
Yes, definitely, so in effect, those with the most to lose are not even considered worthy of counting. Deployed and out of country military members, take note!
thanks for this thread.
I’m realizing my vote probably wasn’t counted in my state and I think I’ll get involved some how to try to make that change so it doesn’t happen to me and others in the future.
"Are absent voter ballots always counted?
Yes. Absent voter ballots simply allow voters who are eligible to cast ballots prior to Election Day. They are counted on Election Day along with all ballots voted at the polls."
As a newly-minted senior citizens, my wife and I voted absentee for the first time this year. We personally delivered our ballots to the city clerk on November 4th.
“Here is what *Ive* learned. So many people want to avoid the lines on election day that they all go to early voting, and then they have to wait on line there because there are so few polling locations for early voting. Meanwhile, on election day, waltz right up to the front-no line”
Haha! The law of unintended consequences!
I had never heard that before about absentee ballots not being counted. I expect it’s a state by state thing.
We choose our President through the electoral college. It’s the Constitution. It’s been that way for more than 200 years.
The U.S. Constitution requires that state legislatures determine a method for choosing electors, in advance of the actual election. The problem with 2000, IMO, was that the Florida Supreme court wanted to “select” the President, with rules to be determined after the fact. The Florida Supreme court violated the US Constitution in two ways: devising electoral procedures - the job of the legislature, and making-up rules after the fact - rather than before.
Al Gore, the Daleys, etc., wanted to relive the glory days of their fathers and steal the election as an earlier generation had stolen the 1960 election.
those folks are just dragging out their disappointment and on Dec 19 will have a new “injection” of hurt and hate when the electoral college does not vote to elect Hillary.
And, counted first and published first. As you point out, they are the ones who have some skin in the game. The votes could be counted on site, tallied by regional command and published on election day.
Such might just help avoid foreign military entanglements with political rules of engagement that seriously place our warriors at risk. Need a stabilizing police force? Call the UN.
Good.
I hope it stings.
I went over electoral college vs popular vote with someone on FB yesterday. Here is what I ultimately came up with and thought it was a great analogy.
In football, teams gain yards, sometimes they get a lot of them. Yards are like the national popular vote. Amassing a large number of yards certainly is a good thing, but what matters in football is points. Points are like the electoral college. Every team plays to score points because the final score of the game is the only thing that matters. In a Presidential election the final tally of electoral votes is what matters most - not the number of votes cast nationally.
The guy I was talking to then declared that it was unfair to which I responded that it is only unfair if all the teams do not play with the same rules applied to them and with the same understanding of the way the game is played. In this election, everyone knew the rules and how to win - get the the majority of electoral college votes. That is as fair as it can get.
They don’t want to show 300+ EVs. It’s a sales trick. The 3 suggests blow out territory and they don’t want Trump to have that.
Thanks so much. I can use this when the usual idiots on FB start up. Not having jobs, most of them are in bed.
Think back 4 and 8 years ago and how the sting was for us and then multiply it since they feel so entitled and other factors. Oh yeah the hurt is bad for them.
Thanks! That’s what I thought.
Can you find a link to that study? I would find it very helpful.
