Exactly. My neighbor across the street still has up a sign calling President elect Trump a vulgar pig. She has tried to get my attention several times and I pretend to be involved with my dogs or otherwise ignore her. I’m new in this area and would love some female friends but danged if she will be one of them.

Didn’t he just say too many Mexicans are murderers and rapists? She said he generalized and labelled all Mexicans as such. I haven’t found that quote where he “generalizes”. Anyhow have anything close to that?

Saying that too many Mexicans are murderers and rapists is a fact (sort of) but not a generalization.

A generalization would be saying that *ALL* Mexicans are murderers and rapists.

But of course, that is not true. Not all are. Some are. IMO, also, too many are.

But that does not make a generalization about Mexicans.

In one of my courses, at the University of Texas at Austin, I asked my students: “What has Donald Trump said that you found most offensive?” One student raised her hand high: “He said that all Mexicans are rapists.” I asked a coworker the same question. He replied: “He said that all Mexican immigrants are rapists.”

I explained that Trump said no such thing. This is what Trump said:

I guess liberals DO think this is racist. I’m not sure it is. Maybe a bit of a generalization. He doesn’t say ALL Mexicans, but you could jump to the conclusion that because he only said “some” are good, he thinks “most” are murderers, rapists, and drug pushers.

Frankly I have said much worse things, so if he is a racist, I am one too.

I live in a liberal city, so on the bus, everywhere, the consensus is he is a racist. I have to wonder if anyone has actually even read the actual quote of his? Or they just assume he is, because someone said he is?
