German Chancellor Angela Merkel has congratulated Donald Trump on his win in the US presidential election, before underlining the importance of their countries' relationship and reminding the president-elect of their shared values.

The business leaders of Japan, Germany, UK, France, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Australia, and the rest of the world are going to be reminding their own governments that they want to maintain access to the USA markets. Thus I expect these governments’ leaders to be reaching out in overtures of goodwill. And frankly here in the USA we don’t want troubles with any countries either as we want peace.
