Voters in the District of Columbia passed a measure on Tuesday in favor of petitioning Congress to become a state in the union.
79 percent of voters cast votes in favor of the ballot measure, which splits the district into a residential state with a small federal district in the middle of it for government buildings and monuments, as we have reported.

Texas is entitled, as a condition of Statehood, to split up into as many as 5 states.
No permission required from any freaking-body!!!
Move the Capitol to geocentric Kansas (or abouts) and give the Dark City back to Maryland.
Nope, it would make the Flag look funny.
Just have Maryland Annex them.
I’ll make that trade! Let us pack first.
Think strategically. Make DC a state. Then we buy it.
It’s UN-Constitutional!!
Bingo! He should start:
1. Make every federal “worker” read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.
2. They all have to read key texts on liberty and freedom (start with “Miracle at Philadelphia” and “The Business of May Next: James Madison and the Founding”).
3. They have to take and pass a “Liberty & Freedom” exam and pass with 90%
4. They have to take a loyalty oath to the Constitution.
Any of them failing these four are FIRED without any severance. I’m in a generous mood today, so we’ll let them keep 50% of their pensions (military excepted from this rule).
I vote no! Besides, 51 stars? How would that work out?
The District should be split into two parts and given back to Maryland and Virginia, from whence they were once carved out. Only the actual seat of the federal government should then retain federal status (i.e., not a part of any state).
Regards,
They can have a small area in northern Virginia. But still can’t become a state !
That would work too!
How much land in DC is actually taxable?
Wouldn’t DC statehood require a Constitutional Amendment to nullify the 23rd Amendment? Or would the residents of the shrunken ‘Federal Reserve’ get three electoral votes as well?
Pocatello, Idaho...
How about Detroit?
Point Barrow?
Gitmo..................
They called D.C. for Clinton last night with 0% of precincts reporting.
LOL! That must have been early in the night before the good news started rolling in when I was hitting the hard stuff from the back of the liquor cabinet! I "thought" I saw them calling D.C. for Trump and I said "WHHHHHHAAAAAAATTTT?!!!"
Yup. It was the hard liquor.
Not constitutional?
They just want to add 2 D Senators in order to ensure socialist control of the federal govt in perpetuity
Annex NOVA into DC
I vote no.
And give DC the Alexandria part of the original District.
This will move Virginia back to the red side.
