This Time, There Really Is a Hispanic Voter Surge
NY Times ^ | Nov. 7, 2016 | Nate Cohn

Posted on 11/07/2016 2:03:47 PM PST by Innovative

Hispanic voters were largely credited with President Obama’s victory in 2012, but they weren’t as crucial as many believed. Mr. Obama didn’t even need to win the Hispanic vote to put him over the top, thanks to high black turnout and support among white voters in the North. The turnout among Hispanic voters didn’t surge, even though exit polls implied that it had.

This year, Hispanic voters, perhaps motivated by Donald J. Trump’s policy proposals (including deportation) and harsh language aimed at undocumented Hispanic immigrants, really might decide this election. Early voting data unequivocally indicates that Hillary Clinton will benefit from a long awaited surge in Hispanic turnout, vastly exceeding the Hispanic turnout from four years ago.

It’s too soon to say whether it will be decisive for her. The geographic distribution of Hispanic voters means that many of her gains will help her in noncompetitive states like Texas and California, not Michigan and Pennsylvania.

But the surge is real, and it’s big. It could be enough to overcome Mr. Trump’s strength among white-working class voters in the swing states of Florida and Nevada. If it does, it will almost certainly win her the election.

In Florida, voters who indicated they were Hispanic on their voter registration form represent more than 15 percent of the early vote. In 2012, Hispanic voters were just 12 percent of the final electorate.

if they’re limited to legal voters and NOT illegal invaders like Obama just invited to vote

then Mr Trump is going to get a whole LOT of these Latino votes!

but without LOTS and LOTS of good honest poll watchers.....
anything could happen (and probably will)...alas!

What is carefully ignored in all this spin about the “Hispanic surge” is the complete collapse of the Black vote for Hillary in the early numbers.

Hillary is running far behind Obama in early turn out in NC, FLA, and CO

In other words, this writer is a bigot. I buy that. Most liberals tend that direction.

And Nate, how about you take a look at the complete collapse of the early Black vote the Clinton camp was counting on? Clintion is running well behind where Obama was in 2012 in FLA, NC and CO

I think Florida Cubans voted for Obama.

Hispanic immigration creates Democrat majority districts, local, state and probably federal .

“This Time, There Really Is a Hispanic Voter Surge”

What the hell is a Hispanic voter surge? Does this mean there are thousands of Cubans coming out to vote? If so, this helps Trump.

Does it mean thousands of Hispanics who came here LEGALLY are coming out to vote? This also helps Trump.

So the premise that a Hispanic voter surge automatically help Clinton is stupid. So my title to this article is New York Times = Stupid.

Wishful thinking...

As the article points out... They are mostly in non competitive states, and are not remotely to the levels to throw any states... about the best Hillary could hope for from this is keeping Nevada red.

it isn’t going to swing FL or NC, and sure as hell won’t have any impact in the rust belt.

Hillary should have the illegals, murderers, drug gangs, rapists, and Muslim terrorists all sewed up, not to speak of the Chinese solar power manufacturers.

But I’m not sure if that will be enough.

The NY Slimes is simply basing their “analysis” on the races of the voters.

Liberals have been telling me for decades that making broad assumptions about ethnic groups is racist. But I guess when liberals do it, it's just fine.
