I remember 1980 but from my own vantage point it feels like 1996. That was the year of the militias and widespread training. President Mr Bill with his Democrat Congress were throwing off blazing signals that they intended to end the private possession of guns. Gun sales went through the roof and gun prices skyrocketed because the factories could not ramp up production fast enough. Then came the election itself. The Republicans swept Congress and the prices went down to old normal within a couple of weeks. There was a lot of angst there. Many many people thought we were at the point of armed resistance to tyranny. Election day brought a mass sigh of relief that could almost be heard through the neighborhood.

In 1996 the GOP lost three seats in Congress. . Not exactly the result Im looking for this year.

Did you mean 1994? That’s when Newt and Company took Congress from ole Tom Foley.

Bob Dole lost to Clinton in 96.
