I just don't get North Carolina. My “gut” tells me it should be +10 Trump and not even a swing state. He seems to be the type of candidate that would play well in a blue collar Southern State like that. I know North Carolina has a large black vote, but I just don't seem them coming out for Hillary in numbers GREATER than for Obama (Romney still won the state by 2% in 2012).

I find it hard to believe he’d lose a Romney state too, even though he’s clearly already picked up 2 Obama states, OH and IA. Someone said it’s because of northeasterners migrating into the Research Triangle in recent years. I didn’t realize there’d be enough of those to make a difference.

My understanding (and folks from NC can confirm) is that there have been a lot of liberal carpetbaggers coming from the north to settle in the areas around Raleigh and Charlotte. Charlotte has been marketing itself as a new hub of technology (and this attempt to market itself as such led to the ‘bathroom wars’ there).

North Carolina shifted Mayberry to more like Northern Virginia since the 80s

A stream of Yankees moved to the Piedmont area mostly around Chapel Hill and Kernersville and Carrboro

Durham and Charlotte proper and the northeast tidewater are black and steady democrat of course

Asheville in the western mountains is maybe the most liberal town in the south

Again due to mostly non southern transplants

It’s a butch lesbo magnet city

Beautiful but so so odd

Yankees and California ruined North Carolina plain and simple

They didn’t get the right white Yankees is down and dirty

But let’s be honest

Every urban area or college town besides Hillsdale wherever is a liberal majority due to white young libs and minorities of whichever stripe racial ethnic or religious

North Carolina has been inundated over the past 5 to 10 years with an influx of New York transplants -- especially in the Charlotte and Raleigh metro areas. Many of these people profess to be conservative, but it's northeast conservative, mixed with a heavy dose of liberal. They're destroying this state.
