Our collapse as a republic is much like that of Rome:
A republican form of government just doesn’t work for a superpower. If we wish to be one of the world’s superpowers we have to be an empire, if we wish to retain our Republic we have to let the rest of the world sort itself out, even if that means they decide to be Muslim, Communist or anything else.
The Republic of Rome had to transform into an Imperial system, a republic of free men and laws cannot be the policeman of a world run by dictatorships and theocracies.
