I wouldn't call non-afilliated voters 'pragmatists'. I have never belonged to a party because I have simply never trusted the 'binary' system of 'this-or-that'; and haven't wanted to be aligned with any party. I like my freedom to wander where my good sense takes me - and I consider that Idealism.

This year, a lot of my 'independent' confreres and I, are voting TRUMP! because our good sense has taken us there ;-)
