Beer drinkers disavow Yuengling after owner shows support for Trump
Philly Voice ^ | 10/26/2016 | PATRICIA MADEJ

The owner of America's oldest brewery has come out in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and the company's faithful drinkers aren't too happy about it.

Eric Trump, the nominee's son, stopped at D. G. Yuengling & Son's in Pottsville on Monday while campaigning on behalf of his father.

His message to the company? Hard-working family businesses like Yuengling, a fixture in Schuylkill County since the 1800s, would thrive under a President Trump, the Reading Eagle reported Tuesday.

Yuengling's response?

"Our guys are behind your father," 73-year-old owner Richard "Dick" Yuengling Jr. said, according to the newspaper. "We need him in there."

Some fans of the beer were quick to retaliate Wednesday, declaring they plan to stop drinking Yuengling altogether. That includes Communications Director for Philadelphia's City Council, Jane Roh.

No, I drink Budweiser and it’s brewed and bottled on I-75 across from me in Georgia, thank-you-very-much. I’ve been to the plant and it is a monster.

Wow, talk about perfect timing: tonight is band-practice night, which, as some (i.e., greater than 0) FReepers know, also implies beers-and-shots night. I’ll be picking up some of America’s oldest and finest tonight on the way home.

2 breweries in Pa
1 in Fla I believe.
Only 3 in total.
Pottsville Pa is the original.
They give a nice tour. You might just find the boss there.

I have a feeling they’ll pick up more drinkers than they’ll lose.

Probably from this thread alone.

I’m usually a Killy’s drinker but I’ll try a six-pack, it would be ironic if the backlash to the boycott ended up like Chik-Fil-A,

Funny, I'll bet they won't have a matter of fact headline such as :

NFL fans disavow league after league sanctions dissing the national anthem

I just had a funny thought (funny to me any way)

Had this beer company endorsed that vile woman instead of Trump, we’d be hearing what swill that beer is and to boycott them.

Yuengling sucks, but in all the time I’ve known Dick Yuengling I’d have never thought of him as anything but a Democrat! All the asshats in this area are.

I will not give up Yuengling for Trump. It’s mine and my wife’s favorite though we can’t buy it in KY. #AlwaysYuengling

Then I might change my mind. I know about anthracite vs. bituminous coal. My grand daddy made me take the bucket out in the winter to the pile so’s we could burn it in the heater/cook stove. Hard long-burning coal (shiny on the inside when one big piece got split. That bituminous was messy and burned much shorter. Wasn’t worth sheet. Just dirty and messy

The only reason I didn’t like Sam Adams (besides Massatwoshits) was that long bearded bald M’effer they put in the commercial and the other one that just smacked of smarmy lying crap.

There. I said it. I’m done. No apologies. I’m a consumer and can do what I want...:0)

That sounds like a real scientific survey, doesn’t it?

Black and Tan. Kinda like guinness without the heavy flavor. I also like Moose Drool for the same reason.
