Call me crazy, but I have this sneaking suspicion that an armed confrontation with Russia does not benefit the American people at this time. A shame our leaders are too stupid to see that.

Have you considered that our leaders think confronting Russia benefits them (our leaders)?

So how's that "leading from behind" working out?

Looks like we're about to back into a global war.

Any attempt to establish a no fly zone would be a huge blunder. Dumbest idea ever.

Clapper, the ODNI, is also the guy who when being interviewed by Dianne Sawyer about an arrest of a dozen jihadi terrorists in London earlier that day looked to his aides because he had not heard about this breaking-news-for-10-hours big arrest.

“I have this sneaking suspicion that an armed confrontation with Russia does not benefit the American people at this time. “

Democrats love to start wars and get Americans killed.

By what right would WE establish a no fly zone over Syria?

Because the USA are the good guys, and Russia are the bad ones. Who would ask for another explanation?

Btw, one of the first responds to this article about the difficulty of establishing a NFZ is a guy with experience w/ NFZs.

"As an aviator veteran of two No-Fly zone operations–DENY FLIGHT and SOUTHERN WATCH– I can only say AMEN to this article. No fly zones are very limited operational tools and not the one-size fits all air power solution that so many politicians with zero military experience (beyond directing that military) so casually throw about in their prescriptions.

Good job Star-baby et al.

From outside of USA, it looks like the U.S. is throwing a massive tantrum like a petulant teenager who has all the power toys and is using whatever s/he can do and find to get their way.

It looks really bad for a superpower, which needs to exercise wisdom, leadership and restraint and recognise that the world doesn’t revolve around the U.S. or what the U.S. wants to dictate to others all the time.

Obungo or the Hildabeast will get some crap started if it kills them.

Problem is, neither one of them would die. Others however.........

Correcto! The neo cons and a few others in positions of power believe that the United States can survive a “limited nuclear exchange” with Russia. They are wrong on any number of counts, including: 1. It won’t be a “limited nuclear exchange”. 2. Russia has more warheads than we do. 3. Russia has a civil defense system and we don’t.

Only anti-gun people think that weapons (and bombs are weapons) kill or speak. They don’t. People do.

Hillary said in the last debate she wants to implement a no fly zone in Syria.

Se. John McInsane is the godfather of war with Russia over Syria. Sen. Linda Graham of course sides with his lover. Sen. Marco Rubio, John Bolton, Cris Christie, Sen. Tom Cotton, and even Mike Pence are insanely demanding confrontation with Russia over Syria.

3. Russia has a civil defense system and we don’t.

Not quite true. We have the same one we had back when I was a kid.

DUCK AND COVER.

(although I'm not sure we have the same quality desks)

We do NOT have a good civil defense program. Ready.gov just doesn’t cut it. Russia, the Baltic states, Poland, Korea, and Switzerland have excellent civil defense programs.

There is already a NFZ there. It’s too late for another country to try to force a second NFZ on top of it. And of course we have no right and no proper.cause there to begin with. Being the illegal aggressor / mass murderer is not an American value , mr O. At least not in this modern age. A Muslim value. Not American.

Many parts of the U.S. no longer have civil defense siren systems, allowing them to fall into disrepair during the '90s (because the Cold War was over, of course...). There are a few websites that show a variety of the sirens that have been salvaged, restored and in some cases, sold to other communities to use as tornado sirens.

Our emergency alert system being pushed out to smart phones is nice, but it's the "listen for instructions after the tone" part that nobody ever wants to talk about.
