Petition: Impeach judge who issued 60-day incest sentence

An online petition calling for the impeachment of a Montana judge over the sentencing of a 40-year-old man to 60 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to raping his 12-year-old daughter has more than 30,000 signatures.

The man was sentenced to the jail time, plus a 30-year suspended prison term last week as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. District Judge John McKeon gave the man credit for time served, meaning he would spend only an additional 43 days in jail as long as he met the conditions of his probation. The plea agreement had recommended a 25-year sentence.

The case drew parallels to the case of the Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner, who was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced in June. Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky drew outcry when he sentenced Turner to six months in jail and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life. Prosecutors had asked for a six-year sentence.

----

He said that evaluation found the defendant could be safely treated and supervised in the community. McKeon also notes the victim's mother and grandmother asked that the defendant not be sentenced to prison.

A 40-year-old man repeatedly raped his 12-year-old daughter!
Gets 60 days.
Has already spent 17 in jail so he can get out after another 47.
Oh, but he'll be on probation and stuff so it's cool.

This headline seems odd. This isn’t some case of consensual adult incest. This is rape. Even Whoopi Goldberg would agree this is rape rape.

Typical in these abuse cases. The abusers seem to always have supporters. Sickening.

Judge is retiring next month.

Can you impeach a retired judge?

Haven’t read much on this one but the Brock Turner case was a prime example of people changing laws for the worse based on simply reading headlines.

Nobody actually had hard evidence that Brock wasn’t telling the truth and that is one of the many reasons he didn’t get a full sentence. But since he was considered automatically guilty because he was a white man who was accused of rape and didn’t get the sentence that people ‘felt’ was right, now the legal system has less flexibility and must bring the hammer down on everybody no matter the circumstances.

If I remember correctly, Whoopie's "rape-rape" comment was made in reference to then 43 year-old Roman Polanski drugging and then forcibly raping a 13 y/o girl. Age 12 isn't very far from that to a liberal, not if she likes his politics.

Glasgow is close to a reservation.

Might be an Indian.

Indians proudly cast five votes each for every Democrat.

You hate Obamacare?

Thank the Indians for it.

They cheated to elect Jon Tester to the US Senate and he was the last Senator needed to pass Obamacare.

The dirty little secret is the amount of pedophilia on reservations.

I doubt it. If Polanski’s rape of a drugged teenager wasn’t Whoopi’s rape-rape, then this statutory rape isn’t either. I haven’t seen where the rape at hand was violent, though, which could change the picture for Whoopi.

I'm betting the rapist dad is the sole breadwinner or at least a significant income earner they're all dependent on.

I ran into a situation once where a 12-year-old girl's mother saw nothing with a male "friend of the family" copulating with the girl because he was nice, and generous, and gave them gifts and money to pay their bills.

I'm wondering whether in this case ma and grandma are both living off of the rapist's income.

Can you please elaborate why Brock shouldn’t have been thrown at him? Honestly curious, I have not a single piece of evidence that would lead me to believe he shouldn’t be in PYITA federal prison for a very, very long time, but if you care to enlighten...
Thanks

Prosecute the judge as an accessory after the fact.

He is helping the guy escape justice. That is a crime.

my brother lived in a Indian village up in Alaska and he said it was real bad in that village everyone knew and only occasionally would there be an investigation and that only happen when you had a 12 year old show up pregnant at the hospital

Make sure that she sends a very nice, handwritten note on some elegant heavy bond paper - that’ll really impress the judge. :-)

I’m betting there is some heavy psychological abuse going on here and the family is blaming the victim for what happened.
