GOP Slams Trump: Not Accepting Election Results Would Be 'Beyond the Pale'

Donald Trump's stunning refusal to say whether he will accept the outcome of the presidential election has created chasms in an already fractured Republican Party.

When asked during Wednesday's final presidential debate whether he would accept the results of an election that he has repeatedly claimed is "rigged," Trump replied that he would "keep you in suspense."

"I will look at it at the time. I'm not looking at anything now. I'll look at it at the time," Trump told moderator Fox News' Chris Wallace.

If Trump loses and doesn't concede, it would break from an American tradition dating back to the Civil War — and some Republicans have been swift to condemn him for it.

Trump "saying that he might not accept election results is beyond the pale," Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake tweeted Wednesday.

.@realDonaldTrump saying that he might not accept election results is beyond the pale — Jeff Flake (@JeffFlake) October 20, 2016 South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said in a statement that he, like most Americans, has "confidence in our democracy and election system."

"During this debate Mr. Trump is doing the party and country a great disservice by continuing to suggest the outcome of this election is out of his hands and 'rigged' against him. If he loses, it will not be because the system is "rigged" but because he failed as a candidate." Graham said.

Given everything we know know from Wikileaks and The Veritas Project why would Trump agree to anything until we see the actual election results?

In any close state a recount will happen and I expect Trump to monitor those very carefully.

Notice that they are all Cheap Labor Express Republicans, like they know something we don’t.......

They will not allow us to elect anyone who would enforce the laws and borders.

I propose the Republicans get some busses and transport hundreds of folks from precinct to precinct to vote for Trump.

Get some old voter roles from the 1980's with dead people surely there and use them.

He did not say he would not accept the results. He never said that. He said he would wait and see.

With all the revelations coming out now about vote rigging and who knows what else, he would be a fool not to challenge the results if the vote is very close particularly in a crucial state. If these revelations were not coming out ... then maybe they would have a case.

Plus, even Gore asked for a recount in Florida am I right?

Linda Graham - who couldn’t win a single primary, is lecturing Trump about electoral integrity.

Its too funny for words - to hear these losers preen with unwarranted self-importance.

They spent all their time apologizing to Democrats and the MSM.

Who needs them?

Really?!

Well.. with your opponent's un-prosecuted and publicly documented voter fraud in progress and unabated, how would you accept election results?

In fact - you didn't really HAVE an election, did you?

What’s a GOP?
They can’t be the same people that tell us to support whoever the nominee is for President?

Me to. Right after the election, depending on outcome, I will change my preference from Republican to Anarco-Capitalist or the Free Booting Capitalist Party.

If Hillary wins I will consider canceling my voter registration and never vote again, after her it won’t matter.

What a bunch of morons.
I just read yesterday that 1.8 million dead people are registered and 2.5 million are registered in two states at once.

Trump has every right to fight election results that may be fraudulent all the way to the supreme court.

They're afraid he'll win. There's no other possible interpretation.

By the way, did Lindsay Graham accept the results of that Republican primary he lost?

About this “tradition” dating back to the Civil War....not exactly. As the website of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library (http://www.rbhayes.org/hayes/disputed-election-of-1876/) relates:

“The election of 1876 between Rutherford B. Hayes and Democrat Samuel Tilden of New York was one of the most hostile, controversial campaigns in American history. Tilden won the popular vote and led in the electoral college, but 19 votes from three Republican-controlled states (Louisiana, Florida, and South Carolina) remained disputed. Oregon’s count was also challenged. Allegations of widespread voter fraud forced Congress to set up a special electoral commission to determine the winner, composed of fifteen congressmen and Supreme Court justices. The commission finally announced their decision only two days before the inauguration. The vote was 8-7 along party lines to award the disputed electoral college votes to Hayes, making him the winner.”

The Democrats grudgingly accepted the result after Hayes promised to end Reconstruction in the South.
