In the closing minutes of their final debate Wednesday night, Donald Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway sent out a desperately plaintive tweet like a message in a bottle from a sinking ship:
"Hearing privately from many reporters Hillary had a 'terrible night' & Trump had best debate. Hope this will make it into print, on air."
Her very hopefulness betrayed that Conway knew only too well things wouldn't be heading her way.
The best bits and bites of Trump's debate performance, plus any evidence of Hillary Clinton's allegedly "terrible night" were about to be lost in the shadow of what her candidate had said in a single colossally foolish exchange.
It was all anyone would remember.
Asked by the moderator, Chris Wallace, whether he would accept the results of the election on Nov. 8 Trump said he'd "look at it at the time."
Pressed again, he went further.
"What I am saying is that I will tell you at the time. I will keep you in suspense."
Trump has been ginning up suspicions about the electoral system for weeks. That's what prompted the question in the first place.
His claims that the vote will be rigged against him have riled his base while unsettling the very core of his campaign team.
Both his daughter Ivanka and his running mate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence have tried to wind down his vote rigging alarms with public assurances that Trump will accept the result in November, win or lose.
But obviously that hasn't worked...
...He may think he knows what he is dealing with, but I was reminded by a colleague recently of John F. Kennedy's warning in his 1961 inaugural that "those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside."

And apparently it wasn't 'dangerous' for Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000 to claim their losses were due to the votes being 'rigged'.
I truly enjoy the smugness of CBC's journalistic pool of left of center socialist loving reporters and commentators.
Wikileaks and O’Keefe need to release additional evidence.
For Trump to simply say he’d accept the results of the election, in the face of all of the Democrat and Clinton Campaign shenanigans, goes in the face of his “rigged” election comments. Trump, and millions of others, recognize voter fraud, shady Democrat operations, etc. that could very well tilt the election. Democrats, of course, would love him to simply cave which, then, gives them a free ticket to continue their dastardly ways. And, Trump’s caution leaves voters to ponder the shady acts of the Democrats and Clinton Campaign.
Liberals are like Victorian ladies clutching at their pearls and fainting.
The same folks who refused to accept the 2000 and 2004 election outcomes.
Hey, look who’s talking about wanting to knock off talk of a rigged election!
It takes one to know one.
I seem to remember four liberal Supreme Court justices who did not want to accept the official Florida election results in 2000.
If they didn’t have a double standard, they’d have no standards at all.
Sure...it’s dangerous to traitorous people like those at See-BS.
Sounds like the CBC is on board the Hillary Express.I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised. After all the Community Organizer-In-Chief himself attempted to interfere with Britain’s EU referendum.I wonder if I’d be wrong to assume that the typical CBC commentator swoons when in the presence of Margaret Trudeau’s little boy.

They conveniently ignore that we have seen the tapes of Democrat operatives saying they cheat regularly and have for 50 years. From bussing people around to vote multiple times to inciting violence.
Democrats must cheat or they lose.
What a crock of horsesh!t. Who talks like this outside of someone who is hopelessly biased against him to start with? I stopped reading right there. Worthless 'journolist' opinion in my book.
Maybe it’s time we had somebody willing to do something “dangerous” the powers that be have become too entrenched and complacent, maybe they need to have the s**t scared out of them....
This idiot should realize that JFK cheated his way into the White House through vote fraud with the help of the Daley machine in Chicago giving him Illinois and LBJ’s political machine giving him Texas. At the current time we see vote fraud in Indiana and Texas for starters and the Democrats and the media acting as if this is an illusion. They’ve been stealing elections for decades and finally they’re being called to the mat for it.
His talk of rigged elections may be dangerous (especially for the election riggers), but rigged elections are more dangerous.
Republicans are not supposed to fight back... they have to be respectful of institutions and accept their place as the loyal opposition. It would be unmannerly to actually standup and accuse their opponents of cheating...
Thus you have the difference between Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump and thus his appeal to anyone who has cajones.
As smart a businessman Trump is and has always been, I would not be surprised if he hasn’t already collected a lot of evidence of voter fraud and election rigging....
He won’t announce it right now and after he wins, he probably won’t then...But if he is defeated, he’ll bring it forward and it will be damning.
Never fear.
The GOP has already said they will accept the results.
I take that to mean they won’t lift a finger to help Trump with lawyers in places where recounts are triggered and where there were obvious shennanigans
After what everyone just witnessed with Bernie? Why shouldn’t anyone suspect rigged elections?
MSM: See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil...
but GOD knows everything. He will avenge.
