Luntz Focus Group: Trump Won The Debate, But It Was Close

The final presidential debate of the 2016 presidential election is over and according to pollster Frank Luntz and his focus group, Trump was the winner of tonight's debate. That being said, it was close.

The other winner of the night is moderator Chris Wallace, who did an excellent job managing the candidates, asking questions and staying out of the debate as a contestant.

Chris Wallace is hands down the best moderator of the cycle, bravo #debates— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) October 20, 2016

For the record I was not picking on a typo, God knows I have enough of them on my own especially from using Dragon Naturally Speaking software. I merely put the word in quotation marks to emphasize that it is not nitpicking but crucial to the state of this campaign to recognize the "women's issue."

I'm not lying, what I said was the stone cold truth.

You just hate being tweaked about being wrong.

Some intellect....

Trump has an occasional habit of digging in when he could easily pivot. Not a fatal flaw but it is was it is. A lot of people running for political office do that. I guess they just believe they are right and keep on hammering.

I put up already.

The truth is the truth. That's what I spoke.

Sorry about that......

If you want to spend a week looking at your Spring posts to confirm what I said, be my guest.

Just voted on Breitbart (Thurs a.m. 8:35 CDT). Trump is up by just a hair.

Anyone who is still undecided at this time doesn’t need to vote, or better yet shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Trump COULD have delivered a knock-out blow last night, but he did not. Why bring Pat Smith and the new victim of the Rapist to the debate, and not cite them?
Kathy Shelton COULD have been made Rotten’s running mate, featured in many thousands of commercials, but he can’t figure out how to use her, and demoralize excited women for Rotten.
If Donald can’t defeat HER, he would have lost to ANY Democrat!

Sexual ‘escapades’ should not be key issues for us. Winning this election doesn’t hinge upon what people think of the Benghazi incident. It’s a damned shame that we could have a POTUS with as much baggage and failure on her record as Hillary Clinton. The shallow-minded are voting for her just because she’s female while the MSM is probably guilty of obstruction of justice in their by-any-means-necessary support of her.

You are so wrong. Shelton is not a “sexual escapade”. She was the 12 yo brutally raped girl who almost died, the one whom Hillary blamed in court docs for bringing it on, after volunteering to defend the monster who raped her.

Oh THAT one...My bad. Unfortunately, not enough people think it rises to a critical enough level. Some people are so stuck in their blind ambition for her that they wouldn’t care if she was a pedophile.

I disagree. This one example, with Hillary stealing DNA evidence and laughing about letting the rapist skate proves that SHE is a monster.

Because the accumulated weight of the polls is to the contrary. I believe in the averages to be more reliable even considering the history of the last election.

I believe that the polls with a track record of being accurate are the ones that are reliable.

IBD is the best. That is the history. Check the sidebar. It shows that "Trump Leads Clinton By 1 Point Going Into Debate -- IBD/TIPP Poll".

Rasmussen also has a pretty good track record. Check the side bar again. It shows, "Rasmussen: White House Watch Trump up 43-40".

The poll I'm less familiar with, the USC Dornsife/LA Times Poll hows Trump +0.6.

What has a long history of not being accurate is the RCP conglomeration that contains numerous push polls.

even so it is not much improved for Trump because of his daunting task of overcoming the Democrat advantage in the electoral college.

The latest round of state polls has Trump winning in OH, FL, NV and IA. Beyond that, if the popular vote says Trump will win, then mathematically it is likely that the EC totals will following.

Okay so, you’re saying that people will not vote for Hillary because of that and vote for Trump instead?

She’s the main reason Fox numbers are declining.

I'd say she's tied with Shep-hole for main reason.

Real supporters do not nitpick everything their candidate does and put it in the most negative light possible.

Then, in your opinion, we are not free to critique our candidate's ideas, words or deeds. Or call attention to his mistakes. We can only cheer him on.

I want Donald Trump to win as badly as you. Perhaps, moreso. The alternative is unthinkable. The difference between us appears to be that I don't perceive him as perfect.

There you go again with your strawman. I never said any such thing.

It’s obvious when sore loser supporters of other candidates pile on Trump. Take every possible negative angle with Trump while ignoring issues with their preferred candidate. That’s not supporting Trump. Just as Cruz says he is “supporting” Trump but not lifting a finger to help him defeat Hillary Criminal. Two tweets a day by Cruz is not “support”. Tearing Trump down all day and then saying you will vote for him likewise is not “support”.

When I thought Cruz had made a mistake, I always felt free to criticize him -- without benefit of a lecture from other supporters.

Hence, I am far less bothered by any issues I might have with Trump than I am by the uncritical and defensive posture of many of his supporters.
