We do not vote directly for President.

Each state chooses electors who will actually elect the President.

There is no constitutional requirement for popular election.

A state legislature could abolish the popular election method and appoint the electors itself.

We have an indirect presidential election.

I understand all that. However, this wording is new to me.

I first became aware of the electoral college, IIRC, during the Nixon/Kennedy election.

Never before, however, have I seen this wording on a ballot.

I take to heart Edmund Burke’s precept, “There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of evil men.”

When, therefore, I see that demonrats have done something odd to the ballots, I believe that suspicion is warranted.
