Evidently. In ‘08 I voted for McCain. I bullshitted myself and said it was for Palin, but it was McCain heading the ticket. But you live and learn. Then die and forget it all.

I called Rubio’s office this morning and told his illegal that answered the phone, after giving my name, to please give this message to your boss. To wit: “Because of the way you treated Donald Trump, I will not be voting for you this election, even though I voted for you the last election. In fact, I might vote for your opponent.” He said that he would relay the message.

I fully understand that they do not give a tinker’s damn about what I think. And even less about what I say.

You’re right about that. Our ER that took my mom’s ins. is a block and a half away.

It should never have been such a long wait. Once she got there and answered all their questions, etc... she still had to wait, and wait!!

THEN they did the blood work and never returned to us for 3 hours .... They had to do it over because it was ‘misplaced’ and we were there until 11:30

Some people are ga ga about the idea of Government ‘assistance’.... BUT, they are just razzle dazzled by that magic word ‘free’

I’ve done long waits in the ER long before Obama came around. It all depends on the ailments you’re “competing” with. Anything that looks like it might kill you in the next hour will always go through first. Visibly spewing contagions (coughing vomiting) are next. Then comes everybody else. It can be very frustrating. It’s led to the rise of the quickmed/ not quite an ER places, very handy for folks that are sick but not ER sick, especially handy if you know what it is because it’s something you get a lot and just need somebody to write you a scrip. There used to be a lot of those places, then they went away, they’ve come back a lot in the last few years.

Bleeding on the paperwork helps to get you seen quicker...:^)

“was an isolated incident and that it was not related to terrorism.” Why is this line required for every article similar to this?

I was talking about this with ER people a few weeks ago when I was not having a heart attack (ear infections can give scary symptoms). One of the frustrating things about being in an ER is the less likely you are to die the further down the priority list you go on EVERYTHING. Processing your blood tests gets moved down, telling you your results gets moved down, processing your exit paperwork gets moved down. It’s the way they NEED to work, because there are people there who might die without care RIGHT NOW, but it really sucks for the person not about to die.

Gasping out “I can’t breath” is a good one. Of course eventually they figure out you’re not on death’s door and you go to the bottom of all the stacks. But you get back there PDQ.

“a $600 ambulance ride will move you to the front of the line. “

It’s free if you are on Medicaid.

Welcome to the standard treatment of Vets in many US VA Hospitals around the country. This is normal for Vets. I feel for you and your mother for waiting a long time. I have taken many entire days off of work to visit the VA ER to get a subscription refilled among other things. Even had one ER doc (a student) tried to kill me. Yes the records were changed later. Good thing for Wake Med as I was in emergency surgery hours after checking into their hospital the same night. The VA response... here is a bottle of Ibuprofen come back Monday if you still have a fever over 104.

Any 90 year old with a heart condition and other symptoms, ought to get priority.

My mom was well known to all those girls

Apparently not. I mean she did survive it so clearly she did not have a could die in the next hour emergency ailment. And being well known tends to bump you further down the line. They assume frequent visitors aren’t dying. One of the hospital nicknames for old people is GOMER: Get Out of My Emergency Room.

A frequent flyer with chronic complaints is likely to get moved well down the priority list. Of course, they'll end up with some bad press if she ever does come in with something serious. You might want to take her somewhere where she isn't known if she has something life threatening.

there are no pipe-bomb ‘suicides’
but trust Oakland to be ‘confused’ as to the motive

Don’t forget about healthcare fraud. It’s a huge problem and needs to be dealt with harshly. No slap on the wrists - but long sentences and deportation if you are a legal/illegal immigrant.

Can you support this - it’s a non-controversial stance?

I’m 83 and have instructed my young bride of 76 to call a ambulance and follow me over. We plan to do a test run to see when she should park. (North western Calf)

(assuming she wants me alive)

Yes, it will get you to see a triage nurse quickly. I cannot count the number of times we have explained that to someone who insisted on an ambulance ride and got sent to the waiting room. Our ambulance rides start at about $850.

Good thing I declined the ride when someone called 911 on me. Cost me over $250 bucks out of pocket just to say ‘no’ because the insurance wouldn’t pay - Dallas Fire Department didn’t have a contract with BC/BS.
