NEW - Wikileaks Appears To Have Released Its First "Insurance" File
Zero Hedge ^ | Oct 18, 2016 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 10/18/2016 10:06:08 AM PDT by Sleeping Freeper

While it is unclear if it was done on purpose or by mistake, moments ago a folder within what appears to be the Wikileaks server has opened at the address https://file.wikileaks.org/file/ which provides a glimpse into thousands of doc, pdf, wav, jpg and various other files, as well as dozens of subdirectories including Videos, Syria-files, Collateral Murder, Japan Bribery Affair, and many others.

It is unclear what the basis of this disclosure is, although some are speculating that it may be the release of one of Wikileaks' so-called insurance files, which in light of today's speculation about the fate of Assange, may indicate that things are about to get to a climax vis-a-visthe trove of information in Wikileaks' possession.

That’s a huge list of files to open and read.

crazy horse was the call sign for the helo that killed 2 AP reporters. They thought the cameras they had were weapons. Couldn’t tell if the other people there actually had weapons as I jumped through the video quickly. But it is the original video and comms from the helos during that event.

One thing he’s not going to be Clinton specific it’s his insurance files so it’s going to be a lot of material on a lot of things on a lot of different governments if anything it might cause enough noise to drown out Clinton things

That's an extremely important point. The only way the MSM covers it if it points to others besides Hillary IMO. Even an item such as stealing furniture would have been headline news at MSNBC if it was done by a Republican.

3. If the files can be read, how is that insurance?

Assange is not buying insurance here; this is an old policy that is now paying.

A) The directory just recently appeared on Wikileaks, so yes, this is news.

B) It’s “insurance” because it was held back by Assange, using a “dead-man switch”. If he ever failed to reset the switch, all kinds of damaging information would be revealed. This was his “insurance” against being attacked by those who oppose him; if they ever tried something, the cost to them would be significant. The implication being that they did indeed “try something” by cutting off his internet access in an attempt to silence him, and now this information is available as a result.

The “Rules of Engagement” file for US military in Iraq looks legit, and has a “Secret” classification.

Wonder where that came from?

I checked it out and it is seemingly old stuff.

The reason for releasing this pretty obsolete file seems to be to indicate the depth of the wikileaks capability for scarfing stuff up onto cyberspace

Rats should worry...... really worry.

Perhaps if they destroy Hillary soon, the secrets shall remain secrets.

A nice clean Hillary stroke would accomplish the goal.

They’ll open, but I’d be wary, there could be some badass ju-ju in them files.

Everything is dated 1984.

I believe that's a Unix thing.

Are they marked with a “C”?

I don’t know what “C” means

Original classification was Secret, but at least the one I looked at, at your suggestion, is marked (S//REL) which means the classification has been lifted.

hmmmm.....your comment makes me think that he is using a phased dead-man switch.

He has been without internet access since Sunday. Probably the first check-in mark has passed, and since he could not get online the first batch of files was automatically released.

They are likely set to ramp-up in destructive capability as each successive check-in date is missed.

If you speak Italian, these .wav files could be very interesting. Some lengthy phone conversations.

That is likely the epoch date of whatever server it’s residing upon. PRobably doesn’t have anything to do with the information.
