A gunman wearing body armor targeted two California police officers who were taking a break at a coffee shop in an ambush that failed when his gun malfunctioned, authorities said Monday.
Adam Powell, 41, appeared in the doorway of a Starbucks and 'attempted to assassinate' the two officers on Sunday, Vallejo Police Chief Andrew Bidou said.
The officers were not injured because the battered weapon, its butt covered with duct tape or foil, appeared to jam. Powell of Suisun City was in critical condition after being shot by the officers during a foot chase.

Looks like the dude jiggered up the buffer tube assembly and the bolt didn’t retract correctly.

Looks like a P-Mag 60 round drum which aren’t as reliable as box magazines, but with that much duct tape around the buffer tube, I don’t see how he could even pull back the charging handle.
I also not that this was in California, so that bullet button ban seems to be working wonders for reducing crime.
The voices told him to use tin foil to protect the decoder receiver in the butt stock. Unfortunately, the voices failed to warn him about interfering with the function of the charging handle. LOL. Sucks to be batshit crazy.
