Serious Question: How is it that a person can support Hillary? (vanity)

I'm looking for serious answers, I really am. I know it's hard to avoid the one line quips and funny stuff but getting to the heart of this matter could save our nation.

I've been sitting here wondering how on earth a person could support and even worse be enthusiastic and cheer for Hillary at rallies? "It's beyond madness" I say to myself. And then I realize they think the same thing about us. "Trump is a Nazi" they say and so on. Yet, we know we're right, but then at the same time they are sure that they are the ones who are right. Yet we know we are right, yet they think the same thing.

To me it seems the answer to this question lies in knowing the truth. First one has to believe that there is such a thing as truth, second, that it can actually be determined, and thirdly one has to be willing to look into the truth even if that might make them uncomfortable, including totally unwinding their worldview entirely.

Back in 92 I actually voted for Clinton. I later then became a Christian in my early 30's, I mean a real awakening of Truth that could have only been of God. It changed everything, including examining what I thought to be true was in fact, not. And not just politically but in many aspects of my life.

I think back to those days and wonder, was I so sure that what I knew was the truth when I pulled that lever in 92 for Clinton? No, I really wasn't, I was a lightweight and I was smart enough to know I didn't really know. I think a lot of people on the left are like that. However, the media, which we now know is one and the same as the left, gives them comfort, reassures them daily that they are right, and just when a moment of doubt pops into their heads another news story on how evil Trump is fills the void.

I don't know what the answer is or if I am totally off base here. I am strongly reminded of C.S. Lewis and the Screw Tape letters.

Any further thoughts on this?

I don’t think many support Hillary at all..unfortunately for them the registered Demorats are stuck with her....and they’ll generally vote the party line.

There are a lot of otherwise intelligent people in market areas dominated by the leftist media that think electing Hillary will give them Bill on domestic issues and they quit considering other issues after that chance to return to the good old 90s.

Some conservatives don’t understand who is the 21st century liberal. They are upper middle class, not poor: “limosine liberals.” They drive Lexus, BMW and Mercedes.
Mr. Trump raised $100 million for his campaign in September and he has $75 million in cash on hand. That sounds spectacular, until you see that Clinton raised $154 million in September and she has $150 million in cash on hand. That money didn’t come from poor people or minorities, it came from the Warren Buffetts and the George Soroses of liberalism.
It is not by accident that ultra-leftist San Jose and San Francisco, home of Nancy Pelosi are the richest major cities in America these days.

Very well done, have you ever read the screw tape letters? What you have said is so close to that, two demons correspond in this book, a senior demon teaching a young demon how to convince a person to reject the gospel, they go to great links to deceive but the moment they reveal their hand, that they exist, all is lost. What you have said is so close to that (in how the media works). I like what you said very much.

Well, the simple answer is these people think differently than you or I.

I remember as a child taking trips back to Serbia and talking to my grandfather. He was a college-age, true communist believer in the 1920’s. He served Tito’s Partisans well in WWII, through some truly horrific sectarian violence. He was rewarded with the directorship of a town (equivalent to a mayor) post-war.

Unfortunately, being a true-believer, he chose poorly in the Tito-Stalin schism in Yugoslavia. Stalin had the good sense to die, the Russian invasion fizzled out, and Tito prevailed. My grandfather was in a bad position.

I remembered laughing at my mother’s naivety when she said they spared him because he was a widower with four children. I had an understanding of realpolitik even as a child. They spared him because we had several highly ranked family members on the winning side. They made grandfather a night watchman in a high rise building for the rest of his life (because there is no unemployment in communism). To say he was bitter is an understatement.

So now, fast forward to the present. I have a long-time high school friend, business owner, and former conservative in his youth. Over the past twenty years he changed. He started to swallow hook, line, and sinker all the dribblings from the left. Apparently, big business is the cause of all evil in the world, he fundamentally hates America and all the freedoms we have, including the Second Amendment, and socialism is the only answer for our problems. This is a man who understood politics once, was a military history enthusiast, and shouldn’t be blind to history. And yet, now he sits and spouts every Salon and Huffpost talking point at me. He claims it would be different this time, and yet he sounds exactly like my grandfather did forty years ago.

So, you tell me: what is it? Did Marx invent the perfect earwig that once implanted rivals sex and food for compulsion? It’s got to hit some utopian nerve that bypasses all logical thought and reason.

Mostly its two factors:

1. willful ignorance
2. voting based on whomever is going to give them more welfare.

the first is mostly predicated on believing the mainstream media without doing any fact checking for yourself. Pretty easy to fall into this because watching the video of trump saying something stupid takes longer than reading a spun account of the same when the spun version is a tweet.

the second is basically the cause of the fall of a republic. People don’t realize that they are doing that and that the fall of the republic (and their ability to cast a vote) is going to be the result. They just want\need the extra cash that is promised. In other words, lack of foresight.

How Can Any American?

How can any American support anyone, running for President, who does not respect the stated purpose of the Constitution, she has repeatedly sworn to preserve? The Preamble to the Constitution states that purpose:

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Our "posterity," of course, are our lineal descendants. A purpose that is 100% consistent with Donald Trump's call to put America First. It is 100% consistent with the Fifth Commandment, and traditional Western values, in general. Mrs. Clinton's call for open borders, and the failure to properly vet immigrants from lands with very different value systems, is 100% inconsistent with the Constitutional purpose.

How can any American refuse to vote for Donald Trump, who not only understands & accepts what the Constitution requires. He strenuously exposes Mrs. Clinton on issue after issue!

Trump is willing to risk a lifetime of success--his whole career & fortune--to take on a corrupt media, that tries in every unfair, intellectually dishonest, way to cover up Mrs. Clinton's crimes and repeated acts of betrayal, in order to stand for us, our Constitution and our clear interests, on a host of vital issues. Consider:

1. Trump supports and has been endorsed by the border guards. Mrs. Clinton has shown only disdain for those trying to keep America safe from a flood of unauthorized invaders.

2. Trump supports the rights of Americans to efficiently arm themselves, both for their own protection and for the protection of America! Mrs. Clinton has repeatedly sought means to disarm American families.

3. Trump has supported local Police in violent confrontations with neighborhood thugs; while Mrs. Clinton & Obama have allied themselves with virulently anti Police groups--some funded by George Soros--groups determined to deny their law abiding neighbors, the Police protection, necessary to make those neighborhoods safe.

4. Trump understands that making any neighborhood safe, is the key to increasing constructive activity in such neighborhood;--the key to people being able to start local businesses, with some hope of success; the key to better job opportunities, better credit ratings, etc. Mrs. Clinton has shown herself more intent on encouraging and supporting those Soros funded groups.

5. Donald Trump supports all forms of American energy production! He wants to let the coal miners get back to work; to take advantage of improved technology that allows a cleaner use of coal. Mrs. Clinton has insulted the coal miners, by refusing to help them get back to work, while she patronizes them; offering them a new dependence on even more Governmental meddling.

6. Returning to the Constitution--the solemn compact (or contract) that authorizes us to even have a Federal Government;--the charter, that once--when truly honored--made us the envy of the earth:

Donald Trump has pledged to appoint only those who honor the clear intent of that charter, to the Federal Judiciary. Mrs. Clinton has promised to only appoint Judges who agree with her ghoulish view of Feminist issues: such as the idea that it is O.K. for a woman--on mere whim--to have a healthy, already half born baby, killed in cold blood, in something euphemistically labeled a "partial birth abortion!"

7. Donald Trump, daily addresses great rallies, to discuss these and other vital issues; such as the damage to American workers & communities, resulting from trade deals, and immigration policies, that do not protect our rooted population. Mrs. Clinton has avoided in depth discussion of issues; preferring, instead, an incessant attack on Donald Trump's personality; his tone; his supporters;--in each case misrepresenting the same by a combination of lies, cherry picked but misleading data, gross exaggerations, and citations of spurious media smears, engineered by a slavish press, which covers up actual crimes, in a blind, but determined, support for the perpetrator.

Under such circumstances: How can any American vote for Mrs. Clinton? How can any American refuse to vote for Donald Trump?

Note further: There are thousands of organizations, some Faith based (both evangelical & social); some secular, but ideological; some based on Humanist arrogance (Return To Babel). Among them there is something to represent just about any imagined human interest. Our written Constitution is the sole organizational effort focused solely on the interests of the rooted American. How dare any American betray or trivialize our organization; the Constitutional Republic, as it was intended by the Fathers, who won it for their posterity?! How can any American refuse to vote for Donald Trump?

May the living God Bless all those who understand what is truly at stake!

I heard two black coworkers extol the virtues of Michelle O and that , “Trump will get us in a war “. There you habe it, slaves on the Democrat Plantation.

By contrast a white middle aged woman told me that as far as Hillary is conerned, “The bitch should be tried for what happened in Benghazi. “

So there is one example of the opposing mindsets

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I have read Screw Tape Letters, but honestly was not thinking about that at all when I made my observations.

Another comment on the sound bites. It cannot be just our coming up with our own clever sound bites . . . well that might help with some, but the committed will just deflect our sound bite with their sound bite, and think they won. Then go back to their groups where they engage in group think and make each other feel superior to all the great unwashed, such as anyone who dares disagree with them on principle or policy!

OTOH, I thought the #Hillarygropedme was a great counter to the unsubstantiated smear of Trump!

I think it is great that there are so many creative people able to use humor, in a way to turn their own lies and smears back on them. IOW MIRROR it. Use their own words and Alinsky tactics back at them!

I think it was John Zmirak who estimated that there are about 1.2 million believing Catholics in the U.S. Sounds about right. Not a single real Catholic is a registered Democrat.
