Trump fans boo, walk out on Amy Schumer show in Tampa (w/video)

TAMPA - About 200 people walked out of Amy Schumer's comedy show at the Amalie Arena in Tampa Sunday when she mocked Donald Trump as, among other things, an "orange, sexual-assaulting, fake- college-starting monster." (Read Jay Cridlin's review of the show).

Loud booing from a vocal, but small minority of the arena crowd started about halfway through the show, when Schumer's raunchy humor veered into more topical matters, including gun control and the presidential election. She has been a vocal advocate for stricter gun laws since a man opened fire during a showing of her movie Train Wreck last year, killing two young women, Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, in Louisiana, and was an early Hillary Clinton supporter,

She made it clear she doesn't understand how people can support Trump. At one point, she asked for a Trump supporter - preferably one with sleeves, she told security personnel - to join her up on stage to explain their enthusiasm for Trump. One fellow did, but he said he was voting for Trump mainly because he doesn't trust Clinton. When some audience members booed, the actor/comedian invited them to leave and also asked security to remove anyone booing.

"I don't want to hear that. We wanted to have a good night without distractions with the politics," said Bryon Infinger.

"It's a bit much," echoed his wife, Chrissy Infinger.

They both said everybody has a right to their opinion but thought Schumer went on too long.

"The show became political. I definitely didn't come to hear this," said Ryan Atwood.

Presumably they paid for the tickets to see so-called ‘comedian’. She got their money and plus she got some free press ... so I’m sure she is happy and doesn’t care that they walked out.

Good gosh. Could they have expected to see anything different? I went with about ten friends to see Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame back in 2004, and while I knew his music, I knew nothing Of his political leanings.

He was, and is, rabidly far, far left. And the entire concert, with diatribes against Israel, and video in the background of the poor Palestinians being persecuted, replete with a gigantic van-sized helium filled pig with wings with "Vote Democrat" and "F*** Bush" hand painted on one side, was enough to sour me forever on his music.

I was embarrassed, because in retrospect, I should have known. I had to sit through that and steam so I didn't ruin it for anyone else, but it was hard.

I was, however, wise to Amy Schumer. I figured there had to be a family resemblance...

When Don Henley went on an anti Iraq War crap on stage, a lot in the crowd called him the F bomb, and I could have sworn he was in tears when he left the stage. THEN a lot of us went to the ticket people at the hotel and got our money back.

Anybody going to her show should have known what they were getting into. She’s always been a leftist and the foundation of her career is humor about what a whore/tramp/slut she is and she pokes fun at herself for being overweight.

When you buy tickets for that, expect to get that. Don’t like it? Don’t buy tickets for it.

a messed up evening.

Recalls an event from my long ago past: had subscription concert tickets and this one was for Harry Belefonte. I had a day right up there with the all time worse including breaking down in a truck on the bay bridge during rush hour. Anyway, got the truck to the barn and was back home at 730, met GF and we just made it to the curtain raise at 8. At that point, a young woman came out and said “due to the unrest in So. africa we will have a different show then normal. When the white man came to my country 300 years ago....at which time I yelled out from row 7, you don't look that old and it went down hill from there. More than half the audience left by intermission but I refused to go and just hurled insults. Complained to the management and wanted a refund to which they responded they had no control over what an artist does. I asked if one came out and defecated on the stage would they go along with that...they hung up. I cancelled my subscription.
