Luntz Shares His 5-Point Plan for Trump Debate Success
FOX ^ | October 17, 2016 | staff

Posted on 10/17/2016 9:52:02 AM PDT by bgill

Trump must present a "forensic audit" of the federal budget. Trump should announce who he would appoint to key positions like secretary of state and secretary of defense. Number three, he needs to talk about Hillary Clinton in terms of more than three decades in Washington, D.C. Did you get the change you want? Did you get the change you deserve? Fourth ... he must pivot away from allegations of sexual misconduct. "He's not winning when he's defending. He needs to move off of that." Lastly, Luntz said, he needs to present himself as the candidate of change, the one to shake up Washington to its core.

The video is much more compelling.

Someone should get this to Trump.

Most “advice” to candidates from commentators is BS.

But this is quite good.

Trump turned down Luntz looking for his business a while ago and now it looks like Luntz is ‘pitching’ again.

Trump should listen. Luntz smells the significant likelihood of a Trump victory, with just a few adjustments needed to significantly increase the probability.

Has Luntz turned on Hillary?

Frank Luntz is always introduced as a "Republican pollster". That's all I know...

The Federal audit point is one that caught me by surprise, but Luntz seems right on target on all of these.

If we're getting into the last three weeks of this campaign and Trump still hasn't closed the deal on a few of these items, then I really have to question the competence of his campaign staff.

Whatever issues TRump decides to emphasize, he should be prepared to slap down any "moderator," who shows clear bias in an effort to divert Trump from discussing the vital issues. I look for John Harwood, a pro-Clinton, pro-Obama reporter on CNBC, to try to force the discussion onto personality issues, such as the 2005 tape, and New York Times & Washington Post smears.

Trump should not get mad, but pivot back to the real issues, with remarks to the effect, "Now John, this is not a locker room event from another decade. I have already handled that--[or apologized for that]--it is the American future, at stake. It is about safe borders; safe neighborhoods, fair trade relations; about an American future that those of us who love America & the Americans will be able to recognize and take pride in."

I don’t see any good reason to announce specific cabinet appointments.

Getting back on offense, yes, for sure!!

I saw the show this morning. Luntz seemed quite positive. Quite a change from his push poll groups.

1) I wish he would take this advice, but Trump will win as Trump, or he won’t win at all.

2) He really needs a softball from Hillary that he can clobber with a smile and “there you go again”. That’s the moment when Reagan closed the deal- when he showed a soft and humorous side.

[...he must pivot away from allegations of sexual misconduct.]

Weasel Wallace will absolutely ask him to respond to these allegations, a good answer, IMO, would be:

“You and the rest of media have been, on a daily basis, beating the drums about this subject, therefore, I will defer to my opponent to comment on these salacious allegations and when you and she are finished pandering to each other MAYBE we can get on with questions concerning saving our Republic from tyranny”

It seems so, he seems more and more like a decent guy lately.

You are right. But Trump, with a little coaching would be a natural for TV politics. He sometimes shows the aptitude; sometimes he gets diverted. The pity is that TV unmasks the phony and thus Trump who is not a phony misses opportunities, which could devastate Mrs. Clinton—absolutely devastate her.

It doesn’t appear that he’s listening to Newt’s advice and I’m sure it’s a lot better than anything Luntz comes up with. I wish he would listen to Newt. I think Newt is very frustrated but he’s hanging in there.

Excellent or even better might be - point out that she’s had to fight the same kind of battles for her husband for years and is much more experienced in that realm!

AND tell her to stop calling the United States a democracy!

Romney did win, but the GOP failed to defend his win effectively.

All you have to do is look at the congressional races to know that he had to have won. The world knew that the media were working to steal his victory, but the American people have Novocain of the brain.
