Russia orders all officials to fly home any relatives living abroad, as tensions mount over the prospect of a global war

Russian officials have been 'told to bring relatives home to the Motherland' Failure to act will put promotion chances at risk, according to local reports Comes amid worsening relations between Russia and US over Syria crisis US has pulled plug on Syria talks and accused Russia of hacking attacks Russia has moved nuclear-capable missiles nearer to the Polish border

Russia is ordering all of its officials to fly home any relatives living abroad amid heightened tensions over the prospect of global war, it has been claimed.

Politicians and high-ranking figures are said to have received a warning from president Vladimir Putin to bring their loved-ones home to the 'Motherland', according to local media.

It comes after Putin cancelled a planned visit to France amid a furious row over Moscow's role in the Syrian conflict and just days after it emerged the Kremlin had moved nuclear-capable missiles near to the Polish border.

Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has also warned that the world is at a 'dangerous point' due to rising tensions between Russia and the US.

We still have enough to make the rubble bounce if we want.

This sounds like almost theatrical posturing, like a caricature of a country at war.

True. Just trying to inject some humor, in these trying times. Others have said it's about educating Russians in Russian schools. Maybe so.

General Jack D. Ripper:
"Mandrake, have you ever seen a Commie drink a glass of water?"

I thought about that, was tempted to say vodka instead of tea. But then remembered Trump doesn't drink liquor so perhaps Putin doesn't. Remember, Hillary is the only known drunkard in the news.

Under Barack or Hillary, no. Trump, very possibly, but again Trump, like Teddy Roosevelt, will believe in speaking softly while carrying a big stick.

"... sacrifice our lives and the lives of millions of other white people around the world."

I have always believed that the primary objective of this administration was to destroy the United States. So the first thing I thought of, was that he's getting us into nuclear war before a Trump administration undoes what he's accomplished. Kill her now before Trump can save her.

Yes, you can win a nuke war—if one side doesn’t strike back. I don’t think Hillary or Obama would launch a Nuke Unless it on Texas or some place within the hated USA.

If you take a very close look (actual first person sources and NOT the versions found in various official textbooks) at The run up to World War II in BOTH Europe and the Pacific the ordering home of your nationals living overseas and unnecessary diplomatic staff were the first steps in warning other nations that things were headed in the wrong direction.

The next step will be the closure of all diplomatic post except the embassy in the national capitol

The next to last step is withdrawing your ambassador but leaving behind the chief of staff.

It will be the chief of staff’s duty to deliver the formal declaration of war. But, based on the historical background of both Russia and the US from World War 2 this might not happen - we were both attacked without warning.

"Oh please Russia, stop the saber rattling. Nobody wins a nuclear war, nobody." It is all dependent on the way it is fought.

1 An oracle concerning Damascus.
Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city,
and will become a heap of ruins.

2
Her cities will be deserted for ever;
they will be for flocks,
which will lie down, and none will make them afraid. - Isaiah 17:1-2

Key quote from the article:

“But Russian officials have vigorously rejected accusations of meddling in the US presidential elections and dismissed allegations that Moscow was behind a series of recent hacks on US institutions.

Retired Russian Lt. Gen. Evgeny Buzhinsky told the BBC: ‘Of course there is a reaction. As far as Russia sees it, as Putin sees it, it is full-scale confrontation on all fronts. If you want a confrontation, you'll get one.

‘But it won't be a confrontation that doesn't harm the interests of the United States. You want a confrontation, you'll get one everywhere.’”

Very reminiscent of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. While the leaders posture publicly, you have to wonder what kinds of conversations are going quietly between each side's diplomats and political operatives in capitals around the world.

I suspect the principal payment the Russians want to extract is Assad being allowed to win in Syria. That's were the raw rub point is located.

The US’ principal concern in the region, at present, is ISIS and its principal activity is gnawing away at them with air strikes. The US wants Assad out but probably realizes they are going to get something much worse in his place if somehow they were to succeed.

Syrian forces backed up by Russian air power are advancing in Aleppo; that isn't going to stop. At some point in time the US will need to figure out what it is going to do with the rebel groups it is backing. Awkward situation but, at bottom, most of these rebels groups aren't much better than ISIS; certainly not pro-western liberal democrats, that's for sure. Maybe the Saudis and Qataris will take them in.

The Kurds are the ground troops in reducing ISIS in northeast Syria but are dangerously exposed to attack by multiple enemies. Of all the actors in that theater, they are the ones who , in my opinion, are most deserving of US support. That won't save them from being betrayed by Obama when the situation turns sour.

The hacking, the missile movements, the recall of the diplomat's relatives are all ways of turning up the heat as stage dressing in this bit of theater.
